Mancini's son has done a Tevez
Roberto Mancini's son refused to come off the subs bench in a Manchester City reserve game.
The Manchester City boss will be left red-faced now the Mirror has revealed 20-year-old Filippo Mancini reacted angrily when told to go on after 80 minutes of the match just six weeks ago.
When the manager of City’s Elite Development Squad Andy Welsh asked him to replace another player, Filippo refused.
Witnesses of the incident at Hyde’s Ewen Fields ground in east Manchester said Filippo swore at Welsh before storming off.
Instead of leaving with the rest of the squad after the match, Filippo is believed to have been driven away from the stadium in a taxi.
A City spokesman admitted the incident had taken place but stressed that Roberto had not been told about it until Friday.
Mancini will be mortified by the revelations, which have emerged just three days after the City boss told Carlos Tevez he would never play for the club again after accusing him of an identical offence.
Mancini said Tevez was “finished” at City after, according to the Italian, refusing to replace Samir Nasri during the club’s Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Tevez refutes the allegation. He insists he merely refused to warm up because he had already warmed up and was ready to come on.
The incident involving Filippo happened during a pre-season friendly against Liverpool reserves at Ewen Fields, where City play second-string matches, on August 10.
Mancini’s other son, Andrea, who was also on the bench, did not refuse to play and came on as a 60th minute substitute.
No disciplinary action was taken against Filippo.
Neither of Mancini’s sons are contracted to play for City and were using the match to gain experience and fitness.
Filippo played last season in the Lega Pro Seconde Divisione - Italian football’s fourth division - with Virtus Entella.
“Filippo is a non-contracted, unpaid player who was on the substitutes’ bench for the non-competitive game in question,” the City spokesman added.
“In these circumstances, a disciplinary procedure would have been invoked. However, as he was not an employee of the club, this was not a viable option.
“The matter has been dealt with internally. Roberto Mancini was not aware of this incident.”
City’s team on the day, which only boasted one player with first-team experience, Ivory Coast’s Abdul Razak, won the game, 1-0.
“A lot of people at the club knew about it and were shocked by it,” a City source said.

Tevez heading for Manchester City interview
ESPNsoccernet has learned Carlos Tevez will be interviewed by Manchester City next week over his apparent refusal to come on as a substitute during the club's 2-0 Champions League loss at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
City want to ascertain Tevez's version of events, having spoken to a number of his team-mates over the last 48 hours. Club officials are keen to determine whether the Argentina striker did indeed refuse to be brought on by manager Roberto Mancini or, as Tevez has suggested, there was instead a disagreement over his warm-up.
Tevez, 27, has been handed a maximum suspension of two weeks following the incident, although the club are considering speaking with the PFA over having the ban extended to as long as six weeks. Mancini is keen to see the forward excluded from first-team affairs for the longer term following their disagreement.
Amid suggestions that City could go as far as to outright dismiss Tevez - who was linked with a loan move to West Ham on Friday - on the grounds of gross misconduct, PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has urged for calm while the club conduct their investigation.
Taylor said: "Let's wait and see what emerges from the club's internal enquiries. Until then I would ask for a cool-it period.
"We need to find out exactly what occurred in the cold light of day before passing any judgments. The club intend to speak with the manager, the coaches and the players to find out the facts of what occurred and we are keeping a watching brief."

Manchester City target Napoli star to replace rebel Tevez
Manchester City could make a shock January move for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani as they look for a replacement for Carlos Tevez.
Tevez is unlikely to play for the club again after allegedly refusing to come on as a substitute during Tuesday's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
And, with City desperate to offload their former captain in the January transfer window, they are weighing up whether to make a bid for Uruguayan forward Cavani as a £35m replacement.
The 24-year-old is one of the hottest properties in European football and clearly impressed Roberto Mancini when he scored against City when Napoli drew 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium earlier this month.
Cavani has a £40m release clause in his contract and, according to Calciomercato and Mediaset, City will test Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis' resolve in January by making a bid.

Summer raid for Van Persie on cards to fill Argentine's boots
Manchester City are ready to return to Arsenal – the club whose manager, Arsène Wenger, has been subjected to more approaches from the Abu Dhabi owners than any other – with Robin van Persie a possible recruit next summer when the gap soon to be left by Carlos Tevez is eventually filled.
City appear to be in no hurry to prepare an immediate replacement for Tevez in the probable circumstances of his departure for a fee the club feel may dip to below £20m and it is impossible to make any firm predictions four months away from the next window.
But the idea of adding Van Persie to a side already including Samir Nasri and Kolo Touré – former Wenger employees – is one that intrigues Mancini. An approach for a player likely to cost the club £30m is unlikely to be made in the January transfer window but the prospect remains a dreadful one for Wenger, who could find himself in a repeat of this summer's futile battle to retain Nasri.
It is not yet clear how City's spending will be affected next summer by the financial fair play regime (FFP), which will be introduced from next season. Working on the assumption that Tevez was signed for £45m – neither City nor his representative Kia Joorabchian has been prepared to reveal the figure – his value on the club's balance sheet has already dropped by £18m.
That figure must be amortised, or written down, by £9m for each of the five years of the deal concluded in 2009, leaving his current value on the club's books at £27m. But his sale for £20m would still represent a stinging £25m loss. Tevez's £250,000-a-week wages are not counted against the FFP break-even calculations this year. But if City were to retain him until the end of his contract, next year's wages would be counted – another incentive to part company with him quickly.
A move for 28-year-old van Persie would suggest that City remain confident of meeting the break-even requirement, at a time when other clubs are investing in cheaper, younger players with a far better sell-on value. Van Persie's current contract is thought to be worth around £80,000 a week so a move to the Etihad Stadium would make him another in the six-figure weekly-wage bracket.
City's own balance sheet is enhanced by their £350m 10-year sponsorship deal with Abu Dhabi national airline Etihad, the probity of which Wenger has already questioned.
Van Persie has had offers to leave before. He signed a new contract in 2009 despite Juventus, Internazionale and Chelsea all following the progress of talks. It is the departure of so many key players and the inability of Arsenal to keep pace with Manchester United and City which could prove decisive. The Dutchman has won just one trophy at Arsenal, the FA Cup in 2005. Asked if he could give fans any encouragement that his long-term future is at Arsenal, he said two weeks ago: "I don't know... I can't look into the future." MCF.NET THREAD: viewtopic.php?f=119&t=40320

Manchester City rebuff West Ham loan offer for Tevez
Tevez left West Ham in 2007 after helping them to Premier League survival Manchester City have rejected West Ham's offer to take striker Carlos Tevez back to Upton Park on loan.
Football League rules would have allowed him to sign for a Championship club on loan, even though the transfer window has closed.
City manager Roberto Mancini said the 27-year-old refused to come on against Bayern Munich on Tuesday and will not feature for the Manchester club again.
And City have moved quickly to dampen West Ham's interest in the Argentine.
Tevez, who has been suspended for two weeks by the club pending an investigation into the incident, insists he has nothing to apologise for and believes his team-mates will back his version of events.
Late on Thursday, a senior official at another of the Argentine's former clubs, Corinthians, told BBC Sport that the Brazilian side were "at the moment not thinking about" a loan move for the player.
In July, Tevez came close to joining Corinthians before they pulled out of the move.
City thought a £40m deal had been agreed after the striker told the Premier League outfit he wanted to return to South America, but he remained at Etihad Stadium.
Tevez became a fans' favourite in his previous spell at Upton Park as he helped save the Hammers from relegation in 2006-07 before leaving for Manchester United.
But his stay was also marked by controversy.
In April 2007, West Ham were found guilty by a Premier League tribunal of acting improperly and withholding vital documentation over the ownership of Tevez and compatriot Javier Mascherano when they signed the duo in 2006.
