I'd like to us see bring in someone who is lightening fast.

Well said Carl.
Even WE have to promote someone from our youth ranks occasionally. And if it backfires on us we'll just have to bite the bullet.
Ted Hughes wrote:As I said earlier in the thread, Bunn needs a bit of 1st team experience perhaps as sub in a League Cup game before being promoted to the 4th striker job. He may not be up to it yet. He may never be up to it; or he may be excellent, it's impossible to tell at this stage.
In the Sturridge thread, we had loads of people taking the piss out of Ched Eveans & slagging off the fact that he was given games to try & prove himself. Ched Evans worked for & deserved that chance as reward for a long series of outstanding goalscoring performances but didn't look anything like the same player when played at the top level. Harry Bunn is equally or even more impressive, quicker but not so well built. We need to handle him with care. Nothing is certain.

I completely understand where you're coming from but I think there's a different perspective. Ched Evans did play well at youth level but when you see Sturridge play you can just see he has a touch of quality about him. Yes he may of been a twat and greedy but looking at him play, he had ability, he could fashion a chance out of nothing. That's something which is hard to teach, some players just have a bit of flair about them, eg Robinho, Silva. I firmly believe if the quality is there then it just takes the right management and coaching to turn them into great players. As I said in another thread Nani is a classic example. He was poor for the first few seasons but you could always tell he had ability and he now is a much better player, his decision making has vastly improved.

I'm sorry but Sturridge still isn't the player you're describing now. He's a bit part player who has done next to nothing at PL level so far apart from a brief scoring spell at Bolton & I recon he'll end up with Wellbeck & Co at West Brom or similar (or Bolton). Also, if I put a highlights/goals package together from the 2 at youth team level, Sturridge scored some lovely goals at times but was often a waste of space. Ched Evans would wipe the floor with him at that level. He scored some absolutely amazing goals, as well as tap ins, diving headers, he was unselfish, intelligent, strong, skillful, fearless & could shoot with both feet like a fucking cannon. He scored twice from the fucking halfway line. When he got in the 1st team, he blundered around like a bull in a china shop. Whether it's nerves, growth (putting on too much muscle) big headedness, alcoholism, girls, drugs, I've no fucking idea, but the player we saw bore no resemblence to the earlier version. He deserved his chance as much as Harry Bunn does though, maybe more.
All the people on here being smartarsed after the fact on Ched Evans will say 'oh let's chuck in Harry Bunn' but how many games are they willing to give him? It was wrong apparently, to give Ched evans a few games because he wasn't instantly fantastic so how many does Harry get before he's written off by the same experts? How good did Weiss look btw ? Where is he ?
We need to be careful here. Give him a nice easy start, keep the pressure off & let him sneak in through the League Cup or something.

That is exactly what you would do with the 4th choice striker - I have never seen him and am going on what some reports like Dougs says about him - Id give him a go in those exact type of games to see if we actually need another forward come January.
