The whole thing is sickening!

Quite apt that this should happen two days before they finally discuss the hillsbrough disaster

Just watched the video and am quite frankly disgusted! If it's true that the majority of show sec staff are rags then they are going to pulling this kind of shit and the club need to act before something really bad happens.

I think something should be stayrted to get these morons out. They should stick to Kylie concerts. Football`s just simply too big for them. It should also be investigated what power they actually have. If that happened in the street would they be arrested?

Jesus, I must have watched a different video and that was bad enough. Just gone through the thread and seen the one of the chap being ragged about and ending up on the floor needing paramedic assistance and I have a sick feeling deep inside. City HAVE to resolve this.

I cannot understand GMP either, they are just stood by whilst the Show Sec continue to get heavy handed. DISGRACEFUL!

I have sent this to John MacBeath and Vicky Kloss this morning:

Good morning. I am writing in to complain about the behaviour of the "security firm" you employ for crowd safety. On Saturday I feel that they finally overstepped the line with your supporters. Man handling a 60 years old to the floor who has a heart condition is clearly wrong. They were warned of his health at the time.
The issue seems to be that he was standing along with 4,000 other supporters, however, he seems to have been singled out. This lead to dreadful scenes between supporters and Showsec staff that lasted around 10 minutes. My 5 years old son witnessed this and was afraid for a while (we were 5 rows away) I am sure you will both agree not a good situation for a fan of the future.

What bothers me most is that there was a good atmosphere surrounding the game before this point. We go top of the league only for it to be marred by a company who have employees so out of their depth at a football match that change is now a desperate requirement.

As a club you have decided to move away fans to level 3 and join the 2 singing sections to create a better "atmosphere" for tomorrows match. This "atmosphere" will inevitabley be created by fans who stand as fans that sit down do not sing. The club needs to clarify it`s message on this.

I would also be interested to know what a proud man like our owner thinks of Saturday. My guess would be that he is not very happy.

Yours Simon 12 ( my surname isn`t 12)

I fully agree to all the hatred shown towards the bar stewards for the way they handled this and many other situations. However, I find it strange that people don't mention anything about the fact that people are breaking the rules by standing. Love it or hate it, this rule is set to all clubs and fans have to abide by it. It's like the law, people don't like the 70mph speed limit but there isn't much we can do about it unless people go down the correct and proper channels to have the law changed.

Put it this way, if nobody was standing, then surely there would be no trouble over it?

I think its the inconsistency that a lot of people have an issue with. South Stand, home and away, are stood all game, every game, without fuss.

I imagine on Tuesday the "Singing Section" may as well be called the "Standing Section".

But yet in 109 et al we have constant harrassment whilst the away fans laugh at us as we're told to sit down like naughty school kids. That really pisses me off.

They could start by making the away supporters sit down then.

Be as it may, there's no way someone can sit and enjoy the game if everyone else is standing. If they REALLY want to end it, and frankly I don't understand why since no one nowhere else seems to care about it to the extent they do in Etihad (See what I called the ground!), they'd try to target one of the "big boys" in the stand, not some 100 year old grandpa.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The main point is being lost under the smoke screen of whether he broke the rules by standing or not,

This was an assalt on an old man with a bad ticker by goons who were aware of his condition, even if he was standing stewards have no right to lay hands on anyone in these circumstances, the rules are that the "Offender" is brought to the attention of the police and they take appopriate action.

Had this assalt been carried out by coppers it would still have led to a complaint of excesive force, as it is, by standing there and allowing it to happen they become a party to the assalt in law,

Anyone who saw what went on and is willing to give a statment, or better yet has a vid, please contact both the club and the football supporters federation, if you witnessed the police actions and have shoulder numbers then make an official complaint to the police as well.

This. This bloke, if he is stewarding on Tuesday night or any future match, will deserve everything he gets.

The video shows the man collapsed on the floor asfter a confrontation with stewards

Fans have criticised City stewards after internet footage emerged of a 60-year-old supporter collapsing following a confrontation.

Furious Blues supporters hit out at security firm Showsec and police after the man, who said he had a heart condition, ended up on the floor amid ugly scenes at the Etihad Stadium during Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.

A City spokesman said the fan had been ‘refused to co-operate' and stewards had responded to complaints from other supporters.

Police confirmed they had received a complaint about the incident, which was captured by fans on mobile phones.

Chief Supt Gerry Donnellan said the fan was arrested for a suspected breach of the peace, but then de-arrested. He added that the Professional Standards Branch will decide whether to investigate. It is understood stewards were trying to eject the man for persistent standing.

One clip, on YouTube, shows him sitting while stewards attempt to remove him and police look on. At one point he asks ‘why are you screaming at me?’ and then tells police and security staff he takes five tablets a day for a heart condition.

To shouts of ‘leave him alone’ from supporters in Block 109, he is seen being lifted up as stewards jostle with fans. The video then cuts to the man lying on the floor before paramedics arrive.

See the video below - the audio from the clip has been removed because of the large amount of swearing ...

Steven Brown, 26, from Bury, was four rows behind the fan.

He said: "He was stood up like every other person in that section. I heard everything and he never swore at them. Before the police came he sat down. One of the stewards climbed over three rows to grab him. He was confrontational and that started getting people’s backs up.

"The man started holding his chest and collapsed to floor. That’s when police radioed for paramedics to come and help him. After that they took him out onto the concourse and sent him on his way. It wasn’t needed. There were 2,500 standing up and they picked him out."

A City spokesman said: "A supporter who was persistently standing was politely asked to sit down by stewards, following complaints from supporters. After refusing to co-operate with the stewards, the police intervened to help eject the man.

"The man refused to leave, prompting a small number of surrounding supporters to become aggressive to both the stewards and the police. The man in question was evicted and a further two men were arrested for assault."

Nobody from Showsec was available for comment.

A complete Lie. Our club are now liars if this is true. Nobody in 109 complains about people standing AND just complained about him and none of the others. I am ashamed my club is going to hide behind this.
