Is there an argument going on?

Postby brite blu sky » Tue Oct 18, 2011 12:24 pm

I noticed this season some strange responses on the bench to periods of play particularly i think when we have scored (that is probs just because the cameras pan to the bench though on scoring). Some animated discussions between Kiddo, Potato Head and Bobby.
Then i noticed during the Villa game a wry smile from Kiddo directed at Mancini after Milners goal... with all the look of 'told you so' written on it.

Pure 100% speculation this but could there be a discussion going on between these three about the pros, cons, merits of keeping the ball and chancing it a bit more with direct play at the stage they are at now.

What i think i have noticed is that the little discussions caught on camera seem to have Mancini not 100% happy and Kiddo and to a less extent Mr Potato seemingly arguing a point. I'd be inclined to think that it is Bob who has demanded and engineered the keep ball approach, the patience and the not losing the ball around the area at all costs.. as a result we have seen less and less of the more direct style we know some players are good at.

Is there a discussion going on between the staff? I could imagine that there is and Mancini is trying to make sure that the possession football wins out first as second nature before loosening the reigns. Maybe the others pushing the merits of mixing it up a bit now rather than waiting till the players have been 'robotised'.
I could see Mancini not liking that, he seems a bloke with a very definite plan.. hence the animated discussions during games.

anyone else noticed this and read so much into it?

I'd be extremely unhappy if there wasn't. I mean assistants and coaches are there to offer their opinion. It's pretty bad state of affairs if they just sat there patting Mancini's back and saying "you are the best of the best Bob, you really are". I'm pretty sure that's exactly how Mancini wants it.

Kidd, while complete and utter rag cunt, is one of the best assistants in the game and with his experience he should be able to offer some good ideas. Platt..... well I still haven't figured out why we brought him in.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

In a way yes but Mancini rarely celebrates anyway. When the players are still celebrating he usually on the touchline shouting instructions. I don't think he is type of person to celebrate one goal for minutes.

I agree. I hope they have constructive "arguments"
Its for the better of the quality of football played.
as far as kidd being a rag cunt. I couldnt care less as long as I have faith in Mancini and the staff he wants to be on his team.

I am disappointed to read you writing this, the guy is also a former City player who happens to be a stonking assistant, do you not think that rags hate him more than we do now as he is currently engineering their demise. I thought you were more level headed than this.

As said above, it should be a given that there is discussion between the manager and the coaches who HE appointed, otherwise one has to wonder why they're there.

I've often said on here that we need to mix it up just a little and we have been doing that of late. Having said that, if Mancini can't see what I can see then he's a Muppet - and I don't think he is one.

So, I think maybe you're reading too much into what is normal dugout chat BBS :-)

Yeah probs i am.. what sparked me thinking it was just the smirk on Kiddo's face.. a very knowing kind of smirk it looked too.

As for Kiddo.. he is a manc basically through and through, was a great player for us too. I grew up living round the corner from him and used to see him in the chippy, totally down to earth, no airs and graces, top manc bloke end of.

Where have you been ?

I think they have a healthy discussion on the pros & cons of what's been happening. I don't think it's neccessarily argument, just discussing why something goes right as well as when things go wrong.

Re Kiddo; I wonder if he has any imput into the type of corner kick we scored because that particular move (players starting outside the box & running into diffrent areas at the same time ) was how we often used to do it when Kiddo played at City. We used to score quite a few from corners. Of course in those days it could be Royle, Watson, Kidd, Booth, Doyle, Bell etc charging in, so it's not quite as scarey nowardays but it's a similar idea. Simple but difficult to stop if the delivery is good. I wondered if the players came up with it on their own or whether Kiddo nudged them towards it.

They all came charging off the bench last night to hug Bob when we scored so I don't think there's too much drama going on.

Rags might hate him but he is 100% solid gold born and bread rag. I mean he is self confessed united supporter for crying out loud!

But I can (just about) live with the fact that he is in the Club because he is genuinely one of the best assistants in the country if not in the world.

That may be the case but if he was so hardcore then he would not have played for us or work for us now, plus I am told his brother wouldnt speak to him at all when he played for us.
