What will Mancini do on Wednesday night? 11 changes? I think Wolves have form for weakened sides in the Carling cup.

Razak for Hargreaves if he isn't fit enough and possibly Aguero for some match practice.

He might try his three central defenders thing again.

Correct. We could well end up beating them with two different starting elevens.

This wouldn't make me laugh as much as I have laughed today, but it would raise a titter or two.

Whoever we put out should be good enough to beat Wolves, we really do have strength in depth this season.

What a dilemma Wolves have got! Desperately need some points and faced with the 'pre' game tomorrow and the real test on Sat. Tbh if i was M Mc i think i wouldn't play one first teamer in the CC. Getting beat by City at home with any of the players that have to go to the Etihad is just too much of a gamble for something just irrelevant like the CC for Wolves.
I just can't see any other sound logic, he has to keep his best players fresh (mentally) to try and tough it out on Sat. There isn't even any logic in seeing it as practice because City's team will not be the one to face on Sat. Wolves will just throw this one to the wind.

Anyway that's their problem. I'm really looking forward to the game... why so much I'm not sure.. think it is because I can't see Mancini playing anyone who started v the rags and the rest of the squad have a lot to prove and a lot to be inspired by. Zabba, Nasri, deJong, AJ, Kolorov. Dzeko to some extent. There is room for a couple of academy lads too.
It would be good to see the whole lot step up to play a blinder regardless of the opposition Wolves put out. After trashing the nearest rivals in the league someone has got to keep the pressure on the lads!

Really want us to get through, would love us to get to the final of the League Cup.

Imagine if we were able to win a trophy in February would spur them on for the rest of the season with our title challenge.

I'd love to win the League Cup, as any trophy is to be celebrated and we havent exactly got a cabinet full.

Id go with similar to what has been suggested, and think Pantilimon, Zabba, Kolo, Savic and Kolarov is a certain back 4. Ahead of them I would hope Razak, NDJ, AJ, Nasri and Dzeko may also feature, and hope that will be enough to advance.

Do Wolves even have enough of a squad to put out a different cup team and a league team?

I expect them to have a good go on Wednesday, and Saturday obviously. But i imagine we may face a similar team in both games.

In short. Wolves SHOULD be fucked.

Id like to see Hargreaves start, Savic, Panty, Kolo, AJ, Nasri... but i can also see us resting a few again for Saturday and maybe seeing some rotation players get a run out both tomorrow and saturday.

Again... shouldnt have a problem beating Wolves with any team we put out.

Anyone know which games are televised?

well hopefully they'll have a pretty weak team out as tbh there fighting relegation at the minute. We should beat them with our second string + a few first teamers. Can't see us losing this, especially with us selling all 2,300 tickets we got.

Wasn't it last season that McCarthy sent a 'weakened' team full of reserves and youngsters to play the Scum at the Swamp ?? His reason was that that game was a completely lost cause and he wanted to 'save' his better players for the more vital relegation games that he thought he could win.

On that basis, he might regard Saturday's League game against City's strongest (??) line up as a similar lost cause and only send another weakened side to Manchester. If that was his thinking, he might surprise us by playing his best side in the Carling Cup on the premise that a win is a win and good for morale, as well as raking in extra cash from a bit of a possible Cup run.

I know this is a bit of an upside down way of thinking, but who knows what's going through McCarthy's mind at the moment.

I feel sorry for Mick McCarthy this week .... whatever weakened side he picks the FA will probably try to fine him whereas we could field 22 players and not a word will get said.

Having said all that I hope we stuff them .... and stuff them good

They finally saw sense and changed that stupid rule at the start of this season, so managers are now free to pick any squad player in the league without worrying about being penalised by the FA.
