The PFA have backed Tevez:

The Professional Footballers Association have backed Carlos Tevez after the striker was fined by Manchester City.

City imposed a fine of four weeks' wages - believed to be around £800,000 - after finding Tevez guilty of misconduct during the Champions League match against Bayern Munich on September 27, when manager Roberto Mancini claimed the striker refused to play.

City had asked the PFA to ratify the fine, but PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has backed the Argentinian after attending last week's heading.

A PFA statement read: "The PFA's opinion, based on all the evidence presented, is that Carlos Tevez never refused to play for the club.

"This is accepted by the club in that the charge against Carlos made at the hearing was not one of refusing to play. As such the PFA considers that there is no justification for a fine other than up to the prescribed sanction of two weeks' wages agreed by the FA, the Premier League and PFA.

"The PFA has informed the Manchester City Football Club accordingly and Carlos will continue to be supported by the PFA in this regard.

Is he allowed to be a member? I thought you had to play to be classed as a player.

A union should represent the best interests of its members as a whole. In this case the PFA is looking out for the sake of 1 individual at the expense of the rest of their members. It is obvious that carlos is guilty and supporting his position only erodes the PFA's credibility and trustworthiness in future issues.

If I was a member of the PFA, I'd file a complaint that they are fucking up the respectability of players as a whole.

considering the fine that was to be ratified was for refusing to WARM UP Taylor's response (and wording) has Kia all over it.

That is pretty conclusive support from the good Sheik if correct.

Just watched the Gordon Taylor interview in full and it's made me quite sad.

I can't believe how low certain aspects of the game have stooped and how low senior figures within the game are willing to stoop.

Taylor has always justified his position by being a 'football man'. If he were a 'football man' then he'd know full well that tevez refused to take the field of play that night and he'd have told tevez and kia that the PFA couldn't support them in the circumstances without losing all credibility.

It fucking stinks.

Worst of all, as much as we try and kid ourselves that tevez and kia have met their match, they'll win. He'll leave in a cut price deal and be far better off and us far worse off than had he left in the summer.

This whole thing was orchestrated by these two slimey cunts and they'll get what they want. To hear that turd Taylor help them on their way really does make the blood boil. I'd say he should be ashamed but like many others, including Tevez's new 'PR Advisor' Paul McCarthy, he clearly has no shame.

The club would have known the PFA objection to the 4 week fine but pressed ahead regardless - looks like a storm is brewing as they square up to the union as well as Carlos.

Manchester City have confirmed Carlos Tevez will be fined only two weeks' wages after the Professional Footballers' Association refused to sanction a fine of four weeks' pay.

Looks like we have backed down...

Manchester City Football Club has received notification from the Players' Union (PFA) that it will not support a four-week fine as a penalty for the actions of misconduct of Carlos Tevez.

The Club acknowledges that the Players' Union is the sole organisation empowered with granting the ability for clubs to levy fines greater than the two weeks provided for in player contracts.

However, Manchester City is disappointed by the apparent PFA conflict of interest evident in this process.

Carlos Tevez has been personally represented throughout by the PFA Chief Executive, on whose considerations the Club has been informed that the PFA has made its decision.

Manchester City has been in constant dialogue with the PFA since September 28th. Today's PFA decision is a departure from the Club's understanding of that dialogue.

Without recourse to the PFA decision available, the maximum two-week fine provided for in standard player contracts will now be applied in relation to the misconduct of Carlos Tevez.

Full club statment....

It's pretty clear the club thinks Taylor has overstepped his remit - it's also pretty clear that the decision is solely down to Taylor. Not even steam cleaning can get the stench off you now Taylor you bent fuck.
