No we were definitely in the Coca Cola world series championships phase two and phase three a little while back. A lot of people blamed Coach Stuart but the roster we had was whack!
Just sayin'
Cheers

In a way I feel as though, even though it's a bit pathetic, there's more to be admired in someone who comes right out and says 'I never used to be a City fan, but they play great football blah blah and I became one' to someone who's blatantly lying about being a lifelong fan. Most of the people I see around work now wouldn't even know what Maine Road is, or the significance of an inflatable banana, or 2-1 to Mansfield Town refers to, and yet about half of them have allegedly been blues for 20 years.
It's a consequence of success, though. And I'd rather having to put up with a truckload of glory hunters than turn up to watch a 'solid right flank' of Sun Jihai and Vassell trip over the ball.

A few years back, if I was watching a City game in a pub, I always got into conversations with British fans from other teams. They always thought it was funny that I supported City, wanted to know why, how it started, etc.
Now when I open my mouth and they hear I'm not Manc, they just look at me with contempt and immediately write me off as a bandwagoner.
Ive experienced the same thing. Theres an increasing suspiciousness amongst cityfans, especially towards foreign fans.
What i dont get is why long time fans would want to prohibit newer supporters? Nothing, really nothing can take away the fact that theyll enjoy this ride more than newcomers. Because they were there during the grim times, the contrast will be bigger. Enjoy it ffs and stop worrying about the authenticity of other fans.

I can't remember what I did last week never mind what City did 20/30 years ago

They are all welcome, the more the merrier.... in fact they're not just welcome they are essential - Unless we attract more fans, increase revenues etc etc we will eventually be stifled by the new financial fair play stuff.
I love converting neutrals and Frogs to the Blue Church
What pissed me off is the lifelong fans bit - I remember at school in the 60s - I had moved to birmingham by then and loads of class mates suddenly started pretending they had supported Leeds since they were sperm. Then it was all scouse fans and then they all turned into life long rags - more recently - living in surrey all of a sudden every fucler in my local became a life long chelski fans - now its us.... these Walter Mitty wanabes, the ones who actually lie about their allegiance to city over the last few decades, the ones who make up shit about what their loyalty to the club - they piss me off - they piss me off a lot

Agree 100% with Patrick.
The more the merrier, absolutely. But we've been getting tons of people on this site and in real life who are all of the sudden lifelong Blues who for some reason only came out yesterday. I have all the time in the world for people who will say "I recently discovered City and now I'm trying to find out everything I can about them". I don't know why people would say they are lifelong Blues though.
I mean this site has been around for what, over ten years? I can understand that not everyone would've found this place immediately but surely somewhere along the line as a lifelong Blue you would've googled "Manchester City+message board", right?

Tbh it took me years before deciding to even bother looking to see if such a place existed, then even longer to actually come & annoy people on here; I never used to really consider the option of swearing at people in cyberspace. I think (you'll love this!) it was Norwegian rags who 1st put me onto this & other sites by printing out various jokes/insults about Utd for my enjoyment. Then sometime later I stumbled opon it again & decided to have a look.

Everyone has their own story of how they began supporting a football team, its a shame mine started off with the wrong shade of blue. I do have a slight sense of relief that i began supporting City at their lowest, just to bat away the comments i get everyday now.
Im happy that we have so many new fans. Girls look fucking ace in City strips.

That wasn't the lowest - that had a promotion and trip to Wembley and therefore classes as one of the best seasons of the last 30 years. Watching us slip to that position with 157 managers in a 4 week period was the low.
Bloody glory hunter.
