Seems like revisionist history to me with Mpenza - he did well and probably saved us from relegation. One of the better free transfers we ever picked up.

Benjani/Macken/Corradi were all awful though. Vass was decent provided no one wanted to argue with you about his worth ethic. He and Cole formed a good partnership in that one season.

Yeah I thought Mpenza wasn't bad, particularly considering the options (or lack of) that we had at the time. He got a few games under Sven as well didn't he, I always remember that header against Newcastle when Petrov tore their right back a new one.

I've got a big soft spot for Vass. I kinda liked Corradi too.....mainly for his celebrations

Mpenza and Benjani on the other hand....utter toss; as was Macken

Wise words. Needles did ok. Lovely goal in a one nil win at St James ooops I mean Sports Direct Arena.
Cole and Vass formed a decent pairing for a miserly combine fee of about £1.5m
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

I'm not saying that Mpenza didn't provide some crucial assistance. I just never liked him and certainly didn't rate him. Not being revisionist...I recognise the facts but he was still toss

How dare you talk out of line about the great Emile Mpenza.

We wouldn't be where we are right now without his service.

He is a magnificent footballer and a city legend.

Which reminds me of 'Golden Boy' Rolando Bianchi, who made Giorgios Samaras look like Razor Ruddock.
Is it true he's opened his own hairdressing salon since returning to Italia?
