Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I was surprised to see the armband given to NDJ ahead of Kompany, Barry and Ireland. Kompany or Barry would have been
my choice in the absence of Toure.
Your thoughts ?

I think Hughes knew De Jong would play the full game where as others might not so rather than changing Captain as subs are made just make Nige el capitan on the night.
He was never me,me,me but always you, you, you

Unfortunately I could only listen to the Radio commentary which does not really give you a good impression of
things going on, on the field. But I did pick up that he lost the ball that resulted in the goal against us. Was that correct.
Disco's point makes some sense. So I gather that we don't really have an official Vice Captain ? Given would have been
another logical choice for last night.

Yeah, he was to blame for their goal judging by the motd highlights

It was both SWP and De Jong....trying to do a one two, i think it was the full back that nicked it who then played a one two and was left with a run into goal where he crossed it for the forward.

Losing the ball is one thing, but normally I would exptect Nige to lunge in on the player who steals it because he certainly had the opportunity to do so. If he was at a full "match mode" he would have floored that Scunthorpe player and it would never have happened. I reckon we'll rarely see complacency from de Jong, but at this moment he was not fully committed.

Actually, I thought Kompany and Zabaleta both had opportunities to track Williams' run and snuff out the danger. Lescott started to go but thought better of it while Kompany drifted into the centre.
When the ball was lost Zabaleta was jogging in a manner that would have outraged the Micah Richards hate club. Bit casual, not the end of the world, no need for the Spanish Inquisition. Kompany had probably been in a better position to track the run. I think the goal stung us into action anyway.

Yes De Jong gave the ball away, but it was Kompany that missed the cut out, and Zabs was out of position and not busting a gut to get back so you could point at him too.
Mostly Kompany in my book.

Typical CITY fans - yet again? - focussing on one 1 lapse!! - and then exploding it out of all common sense
He had YET another good game - over 90 mins
Do you guys that criticise ever get to the games???
Nothing against those who do not because of distance etc - I also was not there on Weds due to business - but I checked with a few mates that were there - and another solid performance was what they say!!
I only make the comment because if you do not go (and that is why mancityfans is great to keep up to date etc) no probs - but please get some perspective before making daft comments

captain De Jong... why not?
It is all about the right person for the job and not one person here is qualified to answer that question. Doug is the closest and I would imagine that he has not even thought of this little debate.

I have but not with any great conclusion. NDJ is a great lead by example type who will get amongst the players to demand that bit extra and I think Vinnie would fit that category as well. I get the feeling that Vinnie would make a great captain but probably the best we have at the moment I would say is Toure.
He also leads by example but does a lot of organising and talking to players which I think is important. The best situation though is to have as many players who could be captain and think and act like captains out on the pitch. Players that others respect and look to and respond to when it matters and I think we have quite a few out there now. Shay and Barry are good as well in their different ways.
