A player moving from A to B, in my eyes, means team A get the money. Maybe the a player gets a few bob for the move, and or his agent. but not manager of team A. The player is an asset of Team A...not the manager.

Thats how I see it or am I just being naive and stupid?

The fact that his previous 'bonuses' were out in the open, seems to suggest that managers are free to negotiate a percentage for selling players. This is in effect, legalised bunging. How the fuck football can allow this to happen is beyond me. No doubt some managers (mentioning no names) will have agents selling them a player, then rewarding them under the counter in money or goods to sweeten the deal, whilst the manager is simultaneously selling a player (perhaps even through the same agent) & getting money from the club, perhaps paying , or giving goods etc to the agent under the counter using some of the club's money, whilst the agent is bunging another fucking manager for buying said player & possibly being bunged by that manager for selling one of HIS players !

How the fuck could the football authorities allow the game to operate like this ? Whatever Harry's outcome, giving these people 'bonuses' for selling players is BEGGING for some of them to engage in corruption.

Interesting how quiet the market is at the moment. A certain face used to crop up a lot, buying and selling lots of players in January.

When you think Pompey almost went out of business, and this twat picked up "commission" from the sale of a player, how much else has he made from sale & purchase of others ??

People criticise our payments to agents, but fuck me, i don't think we'll have gone down this road under the Mansour regime.

Will he actually, realistically, face jail time?

Surely he will only get a fine for this, no?

I mean if one of us normal people did it, I bet we'd get thrown into the slammer but a "celebrity" like honest Harry.... surely not?

Lester Piggot did about a year but the amounts involved were huge compared to this over £3m in 1987. With Redknapp the sum involved seems to be about £300k - perhaps the tax and NI would have been £150k at the time. The daft thing is the case itself will cost far more than that - just hope the costs go against him as well.

Pretty daft the tax payer spending half a million to get £150k if the costs are not charged as well.

Given his income from all sources it seems a relatively small amount. One might wonder whether...ooh hang on are we allowed to speculate in case any of the jurors might be reading this forum?

Calling Redknapp "Dodgy" and "Twitchy" is almost too affectionate. "Criminal" would fit better, in my opinion.

Isn't this one of those where they are trying to set an example?

Lester Piggott got 3 years, not 1 year for 3 million fraud. Anyone convicted of cheating the tax man of a six figure sum is clearly at serious risk of a custodial sentence if nothing else to discourage people from doing the same.

He'll probably get community service and be given the opportunity to use his talents to help the disadvantaged and needy of London. Apparently both Chelsea and Arsenal have asked if he would be able to take training once a week.

I told you guys about this nearly two years ago, before it was anyway near getting to the press.

The statement my friend (a very close friend who has no interest in football ahemmmm no names mentioned) gave me said that The Revenue only pursue cases like this when they are as certain as they can be about succeeding in a firm conviction.

I know that the wealthy and famous usually wangle out with sentences much more lenient than most of us would get but the chances are that the bent spiv bastard will get porridge. Maybe it will be suspended but I think that that is unlikely. A lot of top Government people will be surprised if he doesn't do time.

There was a clear hint when the club gave him a five year contract extension to his existing three year one at the start of last season to endear themselves to the fans. They knew that it was a no brainer because he could be a success and all is good but if he gets convicted, they can terminate his contract without recourse.

Don't shoot the messenger as they say but fingers crossed it couldn't happen to a more odious fucler..............apart from Taggart of course:o)

DAY 3
Here we go for day three of Redknapp/Mandaric trial. Defendants have taken their places in the dock.

Prosecution in Redknapp/Mandaric been concluding their opening statement.

Prosecution say statements by R and M "contradictory, inconsistent and lacking in credibility"

Pros say payments to R repeatedly characterised as bonus for success for Portsmouth and should have been taxed

Prosecution ask series of questions: "Do they really think payments like this from chairman to senior employee not liable to income tax"

Prosecution: "Is it credible when told of loss of investment money that R simply laughed about it and decided to forget about it all?"

Prosecution "Was there any good reason why the account in Monaco could not be opened in the name of Harry Redknapp?" (instead of Rosie47)

Prosecution " Was it credible that it never occurred to Mr Redknapp to mention the existence of this account to his own accountant?"

Prosecution "Was R's repeated claim he had notified police (during earlier investigation) about Monaco account simply an honest mistake?"

Prosecution close opening argument by saying that they submit that payments into Rosie47 were taxable and that R and M knew that

There are a few football fans in court today. One gentleman was politely asked by court clerk to remove his thick woolly hat!!

"Call the first witness.... the HMRC" ....
