The court have been hearing the tape of Redknapp's police interview in 2009

Redknapp: "I'm most disorganised person in world. I can't work a computer, don't know how to email. Never sent a fax or even text message" Redknapp: "I've never written a letter in my life. I write like a two year old and can't spell"

Redknapp "My accountant runs my life. I haven't seen a wage slip for possibly ten years. I don't have bank statements"

Redknapp "I pay a fortune to my accountant to look after me. He pays my bills. He runs my life"

Redknapp says accountant asked him where was money for his Sun column. R said he assumed it was with accountant. In his bank....

Redknapp "We rang the Sun and it turned out I hadn't been paid for 18 months"

In police interviews Redknapp also talks about when he left Portsmouth in November 2004.

Redknapp said Portsmouth 2-0 down to Villa at half-time. Mandaric tore his ticket "into 50 pieces". Next day R said he wanted to leave

Redknapp says offered about £200,000 settlement by Portsmouth, but refused it and asked money to go to youth football in Portsmouth instead

Redknapp on Monaco bank. After account opened "I never went back to that bank. I couldn't have found it if you asked me"

R says he never wanted tax problem and M told him tax paid on Monaco money. R says Portsmouth contract worth 1.5 to 2 million pounds

on the radio just after id posted that they were on about portsmouth going bust again for not paying tax, this expert was on and said they could finish up with a 30 pts deduction if they come out of admin the wrong way. so far no new buyers although interest as been shown, what made me think of redknapp ill never know.

Here goes. Break in police tape recording so chance to update you on what been heard on Redknapp police interview tape.

Redknapp says he never asked Mandaric how much he was putting into Redknapp's Monaco account. "I just hoped he'd make me some money"

Redknapp "I didn't want an account in Monaco. I don't want to go to Monaco"

The account in Monaco was with HSBC. Redknapp "I didn't want to bank with HSBC. I want to be with Lloyds or Barclays"

Redknapp "I can't tell you what year I won the league. I couldn't tell you what year I won championship with Bournemouth"

Redknapp "That wasn't part of my life that bank account. I thought he'd lost the money"

Redknapp to police "I'd rather give you 100 grand than nick few quid off you. I've golf day tomorrow. I give £10,000 to golf day every year"

Redknapp talking about his family "We're givers not takers"

Redknapp "Looking back on it I should have told Malcolm (accountant) but I didn't do it purposefully. I thought there was no tax to pay"

Redknapp also told police that when at Portsmouth he was earning 35-40 thousand pounds a week

As we near end of first week of Redknapp/Mandaric trial, judge has told jury that trial might "trickle" into a third week

Trial originally scheduled to last two weeks. Jury told that on Monday no evidence will be heard before 2pm due to legal discussion

Back to today's evidence. Redknapp told police "20 or 30 thousand pounds doesn't change my life. I'm not the cleverest but I'm not stupid"

Redknapp told police "I paid a million quid in tax last year"

Police to Redknapp: "It's not a gift is it though?" R: "I don't know, what is it then?" Police: "That's why I'm asking the question"

The Court was told that Redknapp is a "man of hitherto good character"

At start of Oct 2009 police interview Redknapp's lawyer pointed out he'd been bailed ten times and said was "hard for somebody high profile"

Despite all the evidence of the good work he may or not have done, and the relative insignificance, to him, of the tax on these monies, he can't escape from these hard FACTS

1).He admitted going to Monaco to open a bank account;
2). He has now admitted that he didn't check with his accountant regarding the tax implications of the money
3). What prompted the transfer of the money out of his account and back to Mandaric

That's it for today at Redknapp/Mandaric trial. Prosecution case is closed apart from a few documents. Jury will be back 2pm Monday

Before jury sent home they were told about civil tax inquiry into Redknapp after newspaper reports on his bonus from Rio Ferdnand transfer

Jury was told that in January 2004 an inquiry launched into Redknapp's 2001-2 tax return. Inquiry ended in September 2006

The early finish is clearly good news for some. Person next to me already busy writing weekend's shopping list on their notepad.
