Huddersfield sack Clark

Postby CityGer » Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:27 pm

Strange one. He'll be well sought after.

Four points off automatic promotion with a game in hand. Seems harsh, I wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye.

You're only as good as your last few games, so what if his team went unbeaten for a league record 40/50 games they lost a few afterwards..............yes mate I agree something definately fishy.

Maybe he wanted to apply for the Leeds job and was told no, perhaps he then forced their hand, who knows

If he wanted the Leeds job they surely would've sat tight and waited for the aproach and, ultimately, the compensation, wouldn't they? This way around they are the ones paying out. Rumour has it that he didn't see eye to eye with his chairman. If this rumour has no substance to it, this is the most ridiculous sacking for a good while.

Agreed but my point was not that Huddersfield wouldn't sit tight, maybe Clark had been tapped up and he forced their hand by wanting to apply......as I said who knows, it'll come out in the wash no doubt

I think there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. We will see but it should all come out in the wash.

THIS!!! Being born in Huddersfield I always keep an eye on whats going on there. Just spoke to my father who's a massive fan and the fans are no longer behind him. Seems to have fiddled about to much with his tactics and thrown good money after bad!

I wouldn't mind going to a game at the McAlpine (or whatever) again soon. Last (and only) time I went was the day after we signed Peter Beardsley on loan. We went there and won 3-1, leapfrogging them in the league, but went down anyway a few weeks later. It pissed down like you wouldn't believe that night. Does anyone else remember it? The ground was really state of the art for back then (1998) and the atmosphere was cracking.

Yeah, I was down near the front. Or was that the 1-1 the previous season. I am not sure any more.

The 1-1 was on Sky on a Friday night. Wijnhaard scored for them. It was a good result for us at the time, given our shitness and their play-off hopes. Funny what you remember.

Even funnier that I've no recollection of who scored for us.

Likewise here Jim, the majority of fans are welcoming this, blaming boring tactics and a lack of guts to go for anything but a draw most of the time

Funnily enough I was talking to a Terriers fan yesterday before this story broke. His assessment of Clark was he had a plan 'A' but couldn't work things out as a game unfolded. "I wouldn't be sorry if he went" was his summary. The other thing that I can't help noticing is that he seems slightly retarded when you see him interviewed. He says strange things.

I think Lomas had gone by then. This was post-Chritmas (so 1997) if I remember rightly.
