Not in current system.

The current system may well be dictated by the fact that we don't have any real pace out wide. We have tried playing AJ and Milner in wide roles. We ain't got what Bale offers. So as you so rightly say (whilst seemingly arguing with yourself) there is a role for him.

You have to remember that we had a big slump in the middle of the season with silva being knackered and aguero carrying a knock but we had no option but to play them as we don't have the players to change the system attacking wise.

So a bid for a winger or 2 might be on the agenda to ease the pressure slightly. Obviously yaya won't be disappearing this season and nasri finished quite strong so we can expect better for most of next season from him but we could still do with more options when we could play like 60-70 games after they have all played in the euro's aswell.

Did Yaya quit the national team? Cause there's an African Cup of Nations in 2013 as well.

Spurs signed him as a left back didnt they?

I just don't think he's City.

I don't think Van Persie is City either, although I didnt ever think Tevez would be and he did feel like one of us until last winter.

Sounds strange I know but its just a gut feeling.

He said he was taking an extended break from his international duties.

So I hope that means he will never leave us again.

Bale is one year older than Balotelli.

We are expecting Balotelli to learn how to play football & start to perform regularly in the next year, but Bale can't learn how to play in a different system or become more consistant ? Of course he can.

Not in current system.

We have also played a kind of 4-4-2 this season but with Silva there, so it ends up not being 4-4-2 as Silva can't do it very well.

That was more of a midfield diamond though.

Mancini seems to love keeping those midfield players quite close together vertically and have fullbacks bomb forward and provide width. I hope no one is suggesting Bale as leftback. He is pretty good winger but pretty bad fullback.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

He's not just a bad fullback, he's beyond a joke. He could however be a decent wingback.

I don't think Bale would have any problem adapting to whatever Mancini wanted. It may take him a season to become adept at it but he'd be playing for ten years after that & it's not as if he has to start every game. I think that Bob's midfield options are restricted by the kind of players we have at the moment. If he'd wanted one of them to do what Bale does, there would be no point in trying it, because none of them can.

There is also the question of free kicks. If Kolarov goes, we don't have one single free kick specialist in the whole first team squad. The rags have about 6.

Please do not throw odd 40m p_o_u_n_d_s on a demi-winger who can't defend. and it's also a cunt.
we do not need that. we are the England's best and will fight till the end for a back -to-back title.

when another occasion to parchase an "option a" kind of player who can take us further forward (ditto Muniain or Mario Goetze, or possibly another star already in the making) let's go all out, then. be it late this window, next season or the the season after the next.

no need to rush and waste, imho.

Ted, as usual, is spot on. The chimp might improve moving from a clueless management towards the hands of City coaching.

Alan dzagoev looks good! 3 goals in 2 games, and drops off to create chances too. Could be a very good signing. But do we buy him on the back of good form at Euro's? Not sure what his club form has been like.

I am not surprised we are taking our time. With the fair play rules and some movement in the front
office, the club is probably debating the near future and the best courses of action. I think our club
only needs a couple of new signings and with the Euros currently going on action will be taken later
in the summer. It may even be the Olympics before we make a move. Funny. It also seems foreign to
me considering how the club usually goes about summer transfers.

There is also the post-Euro managerial carousel to consider , and His Royal Highness will be keenly aware of this, plus it remains to be seen who has a good Euro, and who comes home with leg in plaster. The only place we really need strengthening is a fast winger or two and a decent defeneder ; as mentioned earlier , no sense in chuecking cash around like a drunkard.
