Does The Thomas Cook Trophy (or whatever it's called now) count (us beating Celtic) as well?

Nice little exercise in defending for the lads. Completely meaningless otherwise apart from to shove it up Barca fans who thought they'd win 5-0. 1st trophy of the season too.

Not meaningless at all. In fact, it's extremely beneficial. What an opportunity to play the Euro champs in a packed stadium. How awesome would it have been for the kids to play that match. It was a barometer to see just how good we are and how far we have to go. I missed the last 20 but what stood out for me is that we need to respect possession more.

1-0 against Barca. Typical City.

Agreed- might not help us for Saturday in terms of fatigue but Hughes is thinking long game - next season we will be playing the likes of Barcelona in between premier League Games. We will not retain our Premier League title next season if we can't hack away games against the likes of Barca mid week.

It's good practice for all those reasons but the result is still meaningless as were our results against Rangers etc, in spite of various sad bastards on here who should know better going spare about it.

It's a training game. It bares no relation to what would happen in a real game between the two clubs. It's nice to say we won; nothing more. Last time we beat them, we won comfortably; they eventually ended up the best team on the planet & we ended up with Stuart Pearce.

The rags losing to Burnley however; that's real.

So proud of the lads! Defending like a team again! All over the pitch you can see that we dont want to lose or let a goal in. They're working so hard for each other. We just beat Barca at the Nou Camp! So fucking proud!

Don't forget to tell the rags that they failed to beat them on neutral ground whilst we've won at the Nou camp with 70k supporters behind them.

None of them will have seen the game so exaggerate and say we thrashed them ;)

It didn't appear so apart from Zabba gave Hughes the nod about a tight hamstring maybe. Seemed to be indicating it was ok when he was subbed though. Most of our lads barely broke into a sprint tbf.

Apparently Adebayor Robi and bridge didnt start due to niggles, sounds like nothing to worry about but MH didnt want to risk them. I didnt see any injuries to our lads during the match.

That result will delight no one more than Gary Cook because in terms of the clubs brand it will have done us wonders. There were 94,000 people there tonight, along with many across the world watching, who witnessed City beat Barcelona.

Obviously people will always tune in when Barca are involved, but when people tune in and watch them get beat it opens people's eyes freindly or not. Youngsters around the globe who might not of even heard of our great club will now take an interest in us when we come across there screens again in Premier League games just because we beat Barca.

As we continue to get stronger and better, they will watch more and more of us leading to them buying shirts etc (Glory hunters yes but they do make clubs stronger like it or not). This is why we needed to play this game tonight, and this is why it will be a huge success for us in the long term.

Well in lads, youve made the Club that bit more stronger tonight.
