The amount of shit coming from media about this just proves what so many of us have been saying about the sheer number of rag sympethisers/arse lickers there are out there. We saw it with Scholes & how many wanted to gfive him a POTY award for being Scholes.

I guarantee if you polled 100% of genuine football fans around Britain, about 90% of them would be delighted the twat isn't wasting a space in the squad. The rest would be rags & the 'gawd bless im' celebrity obsessed cockney types who are phoning radio stations now.

The celebrity mafia are not happy at all though.

Look at this from Harry.

Redknapp told The Sun: "There is no doubt Stuart will have upset a few in high places. They would have loved to see Becks in there. I am surprised and sad that he isn't.

"Stuart can kiss goodbye to a knighthood but credit for being brave. He is the manager and should be allowed to pick who he wants."

That's veiled, sly, slap down for Pearce by one of the celebrity illuminati however you look at it.

Fucking sickening & a great example of why it's right that twat should never have managed England.

It’s a fact that a lot of David Beckhams career is based on him being a good looking lad and a large percentage of people bitching and moaning about his exclusion will be women sad about not seeing him running around in shorts. I think we can safely say that if Becks looked any thing like Ian Dowie or Gareth Southgate he would not have made half the money he has.

He was a good footballer in his day but never in the same league as Zidanes, Ronaldo, Messi etc (although many rags will tell you he was). He has had his day in football and I am not to sad to see him not involved. Not sentiment in football, if Pearce doesn’t think he is good enough then tough tits. If there was sentiment im sure Bobby Charlton would be getting a game.

Psycho has exercised his right to be a football manager, not the stooge MC at Beckham's circus. There's obviously been lots of pressure on him behind the scenes to pick Beckham. Congrats for sticking 2 fingers up at the celebrity-licking establishment.

Reminds me of Peter Crouch's reply to the question: "What would you have been if you hadn't been a pro footballer?"......"A virgin!"

Yep. He was also asked it he was in proportion. He said, no, as if he was he'd be 7'6". Do like Crouch - always comes across as knowing what he is and what football has given him. Just wish he'd stop scoring against us

news this morning is that there won't be any Scottish or Northern Irish squad members. So it'll be like the ECB (shouldn't there be a W in there somewhere?) As for Doomy: schoolboy stuff for a well travelled old hand like you. cheers

I was listening to TS when this came out and it just showed how most of the media work. They'd previously championed Beckham to be a cert for the Olympics due to his outstanding contribution in bringing the games to London. Is this a pre-requisite to play in the GB team, I don't know, maybe we should be playing Seb Coe on the wing?

Anyway, they had the morning press mong on saying how disrespectful and disloyal it was for Pearce to leave him out, especially after picking him in the interim team, then went on to character assassinate Pearce for his previous management accomplishments, for us and England. Irani then claims that Beckham has so many qualities to bring, ie. free-kicks and, errrrrr, free-kicks, and says that it's a tragedy that a footballer of his quality should not be included. The media mong then states that Micah was in the team instead of Beckham and this was disgraceful as he'd refused to be on standby for the Euro's, preferring to fly out on holiday, but failed to mention that a Premier League winning player was actually 4th to 5th choice.

The icing on the cake came when they had a pundit on the phone who writes on the MLS. What they wanted to know, and spout, was how good Beckham was doing for LA G to which the pundit replied 'Not very well'. He stated that LA G have had a poor start to the season even though they were expected to be the Mutts Nuts from the off. He also stated that Beckham had looked really poor (and this is in the MLS don't forget) and that he has looked way off the pace, contributing to LA G's poor start.

Now, armed with the above interview you'd think that people would begin to think that actually, Beckham shouldn't be there because if we are to take this serious, he's currently not the quality a side would need if they wanted to go for Gold. But no, even after the interview it didn't seem to matter and instead they carried on with the assassination of Micah and Pearce.

And that's how they work. It's not about who is best for the team, it's about who is best for them and you'll probably find that most other media outlets have taken the same line. Now I'm just hoping Pearce can keep Beckham out of the dug-out as the last time, under Capello, was a complete embarrassment.

That's how far celeb culture has spread its testicles, sorry tentacles. DB and the skeleton are gods who can do no wrong. Shame on you, Pearce, for implying the emperor is stark, bollock naked.

Does anybody feel that there's been a bit of a back-hander going on here. Pearce, who isn't part of the England set-up, contacts Micah to give him the news. Micah refuses to go on standby and then is called up by Pearce for the GB team.

Almost definitely.

Not so much a 'back-hander', though.

I guess Pearce would have wanted someone who at least some of the rest of the squad may have played with, and also that person to have played under himself. Richards is the obvious choice. If Pearce notified Richards of this after his omission from the Euro squad, I reckon Richards would have wanted to keep the chance as open as possible...

Not only has he been shite, Pearce has gone out there personally to witness him being shite - like a manager/coach should do when he's picking on merit rather than past reputation. Not too sure what the knobheads are expecting really, maybe a three man midfield of the geriatric underwear model, Prince Will-i-am and Seb Coe (since they ALL played their part in bring the games to London).
