Beautifully argued.
Attack the argument of the person, not the person of the argument- except Carl.

Remember the excitement when Channon signed, shame was he spent half his time on the pitch at City on his backside - should have had boots fitted to his arse, he went down that easily.

Yes, his current replacement cost us £7M. FAR more than £6.2M.

That was a rare occurrence and last year for a player with 1 year left on his contract. Not too many international class left-backs knocking about with 1 year left is there? Fact is if we ship Kolarov, to replace him would cost far more than the jokeshop valuation Talkshit have thrown in there.

That said the story is on talkshit so it belongs in the fiction section anyway.

I'm sorry, you said his replacement would cost far more, I gave you the exact cost of his replacement and you claim that it was a rare occurrence and reiterate your point. I'm sorry, but you don't get to dismiss a valid point with that sort of blind "I'm fucking right and I'll stick my fucking fingers in my ears and say "la la la la" if anyone dares disagree" bullshit. No no, fuck that....I'm not sorry.

His replacement cost £800K more than the price listed and your only real point if you had bothered to make it was we paid way over the odds for Kolarov and should be looking to recoup some of the money. His replacement as backup for Clichy will cost a lot lot less than the £17M we spunked up on a leftback who has no change of pace and can't defend.

I hope to fuck not as it seems an awfully amateurish way to scout footballers.

Might just as well let the fans do it in a video game & bin the whole scouting department if that's the case.

Dazby has an obsession with scouting at tournaments...he said the same re the Euros

I think it was Wenger who said that signing people on the back of World Cup/Euros/Olympic performances was a terrible idea that invariably backfired

Correct me from wrong but Clichy is already on the payroll at City, as Im sure you have confirmed above - well done!

However this is now 2012, not 2011, and Kolarov will require replacing as a squad member for the 2012/13 season. As Clichy will be the only decent left-back on the books, his signing LAST YEAR - key words there - is immaterial to this discussion on what a replacement of similar ability may cost in the current market. Not to hard to grasp, even for you and your "Im the wisest guy in the room who loves to argue for the sake of it" routine.

Well that's a white flag if ever I read one. However in this instance you are so wrong you could change your stance in any direction and you'd be closer to being right.

You say that the price is bullshit because replacing him will cost a lot more.

We already replaced him once(relegating him to a squad player), and it wasn't.

Now you argue that any deal done 12 months ago is irrelevant to the current market. If anything we don't need to pay through the nose for players like we did 2 years ago when we signed Kolarov, making his value then, which I suspect is what you attribute to the "joke price from talkshite", the irrelevant value we should be looking at. Whoever comes in as backup for Clichy will be young and relatively unknown, not something we should be breaking the back for.

And lastly, how much would you pay for a one trick pony left back with no change of pace, no ability to defend and the only thing going for him being a decent left foot? £6.2M seems a fair price to me, no-one pays premium prices for squad players who are out of favour at their current club unless it's Danny Mills.
