@ Doomie.

I've always had a preference for Tricky Burgerstain in that role but once again, I think the Marwood bashing is unfounded.

People were siting the failure of Marwood to give in to Ade's demands & get him out the door, as an example of why he should be replaced. It now transpires that we did exactly what you asked for & so far he's still here, so you would be in the same position as Marwood if you had been doing the deal.

It also transpires that Utd were the only club to bid in the region of Arse's asking price for RVP, so once again, all it needed was for Khaldoon or HRH to say the word & we could have outbid them. Not Marwood's fault.

Hazard was down to agent's fees, something the club refuses to sanction, once again, not Marwood's fault.

Now it appears we may have persuaded Roma to let us talk to DeRossi. Imo, that's probably not Marwood either, Khaldoon has just appeared on the scene, possibly with the word from HRH to sanction a bid. I believe Khaldoon has been involved in a lot of the deals along with Marwood.

I have absolutey no problem with us replacing Marwood with someone who has world class contacts, but from what I've seen of how our club has operated, I have no worries if that doesn't happen.

my issues with Marwood aren't as much about moving out the deadwood, because i think that's doing the work of the Lord in a group of people who are in league with Satan...you can't fucking do anything but evil, despite your wings.

My issues are around how SLOOOOOOOWLY we approached this summer. Plain and simple. Summers past when we spent bigger, and when Cook was here, we seemed to get our business done early doors, even if it took some pissing about to drag things down a la Nasri.

This was our summer to nail the 2-3 KEY players we needed to bring in, early in the window to give them a preseason and really get focused. And yes all teams want that, but all teams aren't MC fuckin FC, richest team in the world, champions of England.

i feel like we missed a trick to get one more leg up on folks, and now we're chasing it to get any reasonable business done, but so late that it'll be November until we talk about "gelling properly" and Roberto "finding his best formation" etc...Noise we could have avoided i think with a stronger push to get the deals we needed done.

All the Ade bullshit and whether Khaldoon supports Marwood actually means fuckall to me...i'm just telling you how i see and what i wanted for the club this summer. some agree, some don't.

Eeeee....it's all a far cry from the images conjured up in Paul Lake's book of the smoke filled offices of power in the bowels of Maine Road with Ken Barnes and Peter Swales rummaging down the back of the sofa Bernard Manning had been sat on for a few 10p's. Still, I'm not complaining.....those were also the days that I'd have someone's warm piss trickling down the back of me legs on the kippax too!! As an aside who has replaced your Manning, Large or Kev Kennedy over at the Etihad these days???

I'd like to sign Lionel Messi but it's not happened.

Just because that hasn't happened, I don't automatically assume that it's something Marwood has done wrong. I'm sure Real Madrid would have liked to get Modric signed in May, but it still hasn't happened yet.

Apparently Marwood's doing a sterling job and has been working tirelessly for the club in all departments. He's going to be a rock alongside Soriano.

Don't really give a monkey's if Marwood gets sacked tomorrow or stays as I don't see him as responsible for our lack of activity so far this summer.
What I find strange is people are mourning a man who fucked up our chance to sign a superstar whilst being given permission to bid an amount that is unpreceedented ,giving contracts to people like Ade and Bridge that are silly and making numerous gaffs.

R_H,
people are not mourning that man because he - allegedly (when adriano galliani and his master are involved, doubt is always a common practice) - fucked up our chance to sign a superstar.
people are mourning a man who is a proven senior manager on marketing operation and brand development. people are mourning because is NOW when the benefit of GC would have been deployed.

people would also be happy if You would start to make up your opinion on marwood based on his qualifications, previous experiences on the position and results acheived.

Bit of a controversial figure now. Just read a few articles and public comments in the Spanish press.

When he arrived at Barca they were €200M in debt and when he left they were €400M heading for 500. At Spanair the commercial strategy was said to be pretty hopeless whilst him and his pals armour-plated and increased their salaries and benefits, spending money like no tomorrow, whilst the airline was plunging toward extinction.

But he is a football man, not an airline man, and there are many who wish he was still at Barcelona because 'he does a lot of damage to the other clubs in Europe', to quote one fella.

Just dont give him the purse strings!

From a financial management and financial strategic perspective I don't think we have anything remotely to worry about. The guys in Abu Dhabi really know what they are doing from that side.

As you rightly say, what we needed was an absolute top quality football guy and Soriano fits that bill perfectly.

Interesting that no-one appears to be commenting on Tom Glick's official appointment with Soriano as COO. I know that this was originally in the press in May/June but from everything I've read about Glick and the value and control he brought to Derby County in his role there...it seems that the combination of him, Soriano and the existing team really does move us up a level or two. Very happy with this overall.

Cook was never up to this big a job and he proved it. More than once.
I hope our new CEO is as good as you believe Cook is but suspect he'll be better
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.
