not keen on this one at all myself. £2.5mil doesn't really mean a thing if he's on £200k a week.

The point is, it's not as if Bob is going to dump Zabba & Micah & replace them with a 31 year old Brazilian. He is an addition to the squad who gives us something different.

Imo, Zabba is not upto the job as an attacking wingback & Milner is a bit iffy defensively. Micah has yet to be tried in that role, Maicon is a quality footballer & vastly experienced.

I also think that City like to establish connections in advance of players they may be seeking in the future. The much maligned Marwood, Vieira, Bob & all their employees are looking at young players all over the world & Maicon may be the gateway to Brazil.

Like Vieira, he could be signing as more than just a player.

Monkey Face gave Maicon a complete pasting and that was 2 years ago.
Given that he would be deployed as a wing back, can a cope with the Premiership pace ?

Get the feeling it was a bad day at the office.

Remember when Nani tore Clichy a new one when Arsenal played the Rags a year or two back.

No such problem after.

Have faith.

Okay maybe I shouldn't let 1 bad game cloud my judgement, I will have faith.

Think we have seen enough of Micah advancing down the right wing to know he will be excellent in that position. Do agree with you about the gateway/ Vieira angle of it. I didn't realise Micah's injury was that long-term. Any indication of how long he's likely to be out for?

Marwood is a spastic.....the only thing that will make me change my mind is if we manage to pull a DDR shaped rabbit out of a leather hat.

The rest I agree with.

I'm happy with Maricon if we can do this.....like Sinclair he brings another dimension

If Marwood does all this 'closing deals' transfer stuff, he must be like some godlike, leatherfaced, multi dimensional, time travelling octopus creature. He's in Wales, Fiorentina & Milan, all at the same time, whilst simultaneously 'swanning around' with Platini & Co at the Champion's League draw.

I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of some omnipotent creature like that, it may turn up whilst you are sleeping.

point taken re how much one should fear him....that is why I am holed up in the mountains of Central Asia out of his reach.

that said, he's not doing much "closing deals" stuff....that's why we are the day before deadline with precisely one new player so far!

Joking aside, I'm actually delighted with the work that Marwood's team (including the leathery one) has done in looking like we shall finally be freed from the burden of Adebayor, Santa Cruz and maybe even (their finest hour bar none)....Savic!

I'm still refusing to accept that until it's proven.

ONE OF THE GEATEST RIGHT BACKS IN THE LAST 10 YEARS.........

Until Inter played Spurs and Bale tore him a new arse. It told me then he was finished as he was always rapid but he's gone. This can only be a one year thing with Micah out. Also playing wing backs he could have done that job when Mancini last had him, however now????? I can't see it.

Although I would love to proved wrong.

unless maicon will be our brazilian ambassador and help us land little neymars, i can't see any logic in this signing at all.

I can see £2.5 million reasons.

Quality for the team at a cut price. What's not to like.

Also being reported he will sign a two year deal with an option for the club of a third.

Where is the risk in that?

£2.5 million / 2 year deal. BARGAIN!

Thanks for that. Maicon signing makes sense, therefore, providing he can still do a job. Possibly thinking Zaba/ Micah for when we play 4, Micah/ Maicon for when we play 3. And yes, getting our hands on Neymar and the best of his little friends would be a bonus. Still more concerned about getting this CB done, though they will probably get them all sorted, unveil them together tomorrow and RM can give the world's press his middle finger.

That was more to do with crap tactics - Maicon expected to attack and no one to cover Bale who just sat in loads of space. He struggled one on one as you always will with pace, as you have to turn and accelerate. If we had the same issue, I'd hope Vince would come across to provide cover and clear the ball when Bale knocked it past him, rather than standing watching like their centre halves did.
