The stats show you lot are just being nostalgic. We were crap.

Played some attactive attacking stuff as well, almost keeganesque in his policy of 'we'll score more'. Pisses me off when he's lumped in with the othe clowns mentioned above. Another classic Swales feck up not giving him time. He was great blooding our youngsters as well.

So right you are ABH. Just escaped relegation by a whisker. Funny how people only remember the Spuds game and a couple of others!

Is that the 5-2 game? Just watched that tonight on ESPN classic. We were smokin'. Walsh was brilliant.

That was Franny Lee that mate who never gave Brian Horton time.....the Forward with Franny campaign was good for one thing only....it got rid of Swales.
After he got the club all of Lee's decisions in the management selection was crap.......he would probably approve of this one we have now.
If it is true that Jose Mourinho wants into England club management again sometime, then get a contract agreed now and get him appointed at the end of this season, otherwise target someone else, as we are going nowhere fast under this current encumbant who hasn't got a clue about what he is supposed to be doing.
The style of football we are playing is back to the Peter Reid days of lump 60 yards and run after it, and chase it wherever the opposition player passes it to, instead of getting the ball down and working the channels, we keep picking the same players irrespective that they are the ones who keep making the stupid mistakes, and costing the side points and ultimately prizes.
The owners will figure out soon enough, as he isn't stupid that Hughes is not even good enough to get a win out of the Harlem Globetrotters, in the OS he actually said to Khaldoon "I'm sorry I couldn't see you as I didn't have my contact lenses in".......seems he obviously forgets to put them in on matchdays also, as he never sees anything that is going on there either.

Could he get better results, this season, with this group of players than Hughes? I honestly don't know the answer to that. He is hardly a solution for the long term though is he?

My opinion is yes Hiddink is a miles better manager than our current one and would have him in charge in a heartbeat but is he long term?
What do you reckon to Guus Hiddink as City Manager, with Mark Hughes as director of football ?Socrates wrote:lets all have a disco wrote:Socs that Hiddink thread would have gone Hughes out in about five minutes this is the right place for the chat about Mr Hiddink.

Well I would have liked to have discussed his merits without it getting caught up in all this pro and anti nonsense in this thread but I guess this site isn't capable of that anymore, sad to say.
No he isn't a long term solution whereas Hughes, however unlikely it sometimes seems, still could be.

Or Guus Hiddink as manager and Hughes as his number 2, you know it makes sense?, win win all round, get rid of Bowen and let Guus bring in some world class coaches.
World class manager available (for how long though)

don't you think it would be good if in a thread like the hughes one, if it was possible to do like "sub threads " Hiddink in one, Mourinho in another etc etc ,cause if we mention another manager "the hughes out lads" will turn them into just that sort of a thread leading it to be locked

Hughes would walk mate, he is way too proud for that and definitely likes to be in control.

So why did he openly say that Jo was his signing and that he wanted him and that there was absolutely no interference in who he signed for City?
