MOTD - Media Bias Against City

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I think I have stated a couple of times my unlimited appreciation of 1632's very fine thoughts, when FFPR are not concerned.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

It's OK for Mr Brennan to explain and try to reason why but he must understand that their is a majority of City fans who believe it has been and still is there. Surely, as a rational person, this must be taken on board rather than dismiss it?

I have no problem with the MEN (or Mr Brennan) per se as I understand that they target their audiance and those who want to buy the paper usually want to read good news. United have had this for years. What I cannot excuse is what happened the other day where a relatively good performance, whilst down to 10 men, was shown by the MEN to be a lucky escape by way of the Players Ratings. Maybe Stuart was suffering that day but there was no need to make out that City were suffering as well. This has happened on too many occassions.

I do wonder if, with the onset of internet media, that the MEN no longer just cater for the Manchester area but more look at their online hits nationally and from abroad. This would explain a lot as due to Uniteds 600,000 million (apparently) world wide fans, they have now pushed the MENs clicks (I mean 'clicks' in the sense that they can command higher advertising fees with more 'clicks') to such an amount that they may as well carry on the motion as before with just the paper copy.

Anyway, good debate, ignore me and please carry on.

City probably get more clicks than Utd as it is still a 'Manchester' paper & therefore of no interest to the majority of their fans.

Let's play a little game:

publish links to MEN articles which are clearly biased against City and we'll get a league table going. For fun we could see if there are any equally biased against them and gather evidence of the bias that some see and some don't.
Whos first?

I don't think they do mate. Many supporters now use blog aggregators and it's only the headline they see. Also, those foreign fans will want to be part of that 'Manchester' experience will always have a 'click' on the MEN due to their comments page. It makes them feel more a 'part' of it.

I wonder if Stu would confirm either way.

I did not want to say anything in this debate because I live so far away now that I probably don't have the first hand experience of the bias you refer to.
However it seems to me that there is an section of our fans of a certain generation whose mis-trust and dislike of the MuEN runs so deep that no matter how much proof of balance was shown to our fans it would never be enough.
What I do know is that when I lived in UK tyhe MuEN was my main source of finding out anything to do with us along with GMR and they did not seem to bad to me.

Did you hear the game on ESPN tonight, absolutely pathestic.

Back to the debate, it wouldn't have seen bad.

I see they chose to rip into Vincent Kompany again.

It seems strange to pick out a defender for criticism after his team have just kept a clean sheet, won the match and gone 2nd in the league but I suppose it keeps them in a job.

I thought what they said today was fair. Good points and bad points. Hansen is a twat though.

I agree, and nothing wrong with what they said. I think the point being made is that they chose once again to talk about a negative and didn't even bother to mention the likes of Tevez, or show his goal.

Fuck sake, they even showed a mum taking her kids to the bog stating they couldn't wait!

But eh, it keeps 'em in a job.

Think Swales must have bummed Hansen's misses, cos he hates us. If that had been the rags, it would have all been about how great they are, they even win when not playing well. With us, we win a few days after a mid-week game which Swansea didn't have and we're told Mancini is under pressure.

It's not just against us though - Leslie was going mad about the Arse goal being offside and the referee saying he was played on by one of supporters. Did they debate the goal? Show it again? No, they went on about Wilshire who has taken over from Duncan Jones as the best player in the world ever, even though he's only played three games.

If you're not part of their perceived big four, you're just there to be laughed at.

I have joined a couple of City fan forums for the first time in the last couple of days after reading all the hysteria and flak my fantastic , unique and beloved football club MCFC has recieved from many quarters and yes sadly flak from within its own ranks. A couple of view points from myself ......

We are the champions of England and we are there to be shot at from every aspect of the media , whether it is scouse bias , rag bias or cockney bias it doesnt matter thats the way the world is and we all as City fans will have to live with it and learn how to cope with it . There does seem to be a campaign imho to de stablize bobby mancs fantastic work and achievements over the last couple of years , the very work which has brought incredible success to my beloved football club and made dreams come true which i thought would never happen in my lifetime. One bad night in Amsterdam thats all it was , everything that could go wrong did go wrong , it happens and it has happened to every other top club in europe / england many times over the years including Barca / Madrid ! Bayern lost the CL final in there own back yard with an abject performance against an inferior Chelsea side didnt they ?
Lastly has any English Premier League side gone on to become better than the modern Barcelonas and Real Madrid,s of this world ??? The answer is no ..... dont let certain sections of the media use MCFC and our wealth to destroy everything that has been put in place at our fantastic unique club in the last few years ...... there are a lot of jealous people out there !

I think Hansen was fair with his comments yasterday, having said that I have only once heard him say a positive about City and that was on May 13th 2012 we had just won the league so he had no choice

Excellent post, mate. There does seem to be a concerted effort to get Mancini out of the door at the moment, with the Mirror (owners of the MuEN) contributing their bit this morning, apparently.
