One of the media outlets pointed out that we'd had exactly the same number of penalties over the last 3 years. What has to be taken into consideration is when and how these penalties are given. Off the top of my head I can only remember 2 that were dodgy for us, Adam Johnson's leg flip and the Villa one given this season. Contrast that to the constant diving antics of the likes of Welbeck and Young, and that most of theirs are given when they need a goal then most can see that it's not just about penalties given, more of the manner in how they are won.

A penalty is a penalty when a player is fouled in the box, not when a player throws himself to the ground.

How he can come out with a statement like this, pre-empting a referees decision is not what we want to here but not unexpected. What it does say however, is that Old Piss-can is worried already and will probably adopt similar tactics to last season (knowing we'll see a lot of the ball in and around his box (don't do it!), meaning there will be more chance of a penalty.

The thing is, if a decision does come up and the referee doesn't give it, it will be highlighted even more. Alas, it will also be laughed off and swept under the carpet, just like the 'Scholes can't tackle' issue.

Ferguson contradicts himself in half the stuff he says these days. He forgets what he himself has said.

I don't see how he can play mind games when his doesn't actually know what fucking day it is.

I note that Mancini is now doing the old 'Fact' thing with regard to Taggart, something that Benitez never mastered. Bringing into question Taggarts encouragement of diving within his squad and then bringing into question the myth that he has been a success since day 1 at United. The 7 and 14 years quote was very well thought out.

To play 'mind games' you have to have a mind to begin with. The Govan piss-can is just a tired, degenerate old sociopath trotting out 'trash talk' to the sycophantic press who lap it up like the spineless cretins they are. He's increasingly becoming a humiliation to his club (or is it a cult these days, with the stand named after him and the statue?) with his irrelevant and childish outbursts and hopefully this bully will have the slow and painful demise he deserves.

This is one of the biggest pile of shite i"ve ever heard.

Does that fucker or the media know when we had our last away penalty? We had our last away penalty at Wolves, in october 2010! We lost 2-1, Adebayor opened the score from the spot.

Instead, in every single post important moment, at Chelsea, Liverpool and other games, they manage to get a soft penalty to win them the game. What a pile of shit. We have soft pens at home, what a fucking spastic that old fuck still is.

Can a blue help out here, when did we have our last penalty in a derby with them in the league? (The last penalty i recall was that in the Carling Cup semi, but before that it all goes blank).

His defence is very poor
City get a lot of penalties at home
Taggart states the obvious to get the officials attention
Very clever IMO, he has done what he set out to do. Now we need atkinson to be a strong minded ref.... Lets see eh.

Most of the crucial penalties we get are in the Champions League or against Aston Villa.

Theirs come away from home v the likes of Chelsea.

Also, I wonder how many players have been red carded v the rags, compared to the champions ?

Exactly , the the games they had at Anfield and Stamford Bridge this season being a prime example of decisions going their way the horrible despicable Glaswegian cunt didn't mention that though did he what a wanker he is.

A lot depends on the reputation of who gets fouled. Mario goes down, no penalty. Tevez got fouled in the box at Norwich last season, nothing given. Refs see Aguero trying to stay on his feet (his goal v QPR) and feel he's not a diver. Anyway, it's time Ferguson's attempts to influence referees with these moans came back to bite him. He's seen the 6-1, the 1-0 when they didn't have a shot, and City winning the title in Fergie time, now let the wheel turn a bit more on Sunday with a dodgy decision that goes the way of the champions. I have this image of him falling over as he runs onto the pitch to yell at the ref, or Mancini showing him up with a fancy bit of footwork when the ball lands between them on the touchline.

We have had a lot of soft penalties this season. The sorts we would have never have got five years ago.

Referee's favour the big clubs. Always suspected it when we were also rans and am convinced of it now we are the top team in the league.

Alot of it has to do with with possesion, If your play warrants a decision you tend to get the sympathy of the ref. He is only human and if you keep asking you will eventually get one. I was at the Scotland Wales game recently and Wales pinned us up against a wall for the last twenty minutes of the game and they had two disputable pens not given. I turned to my mate and said "they are getting the next one" within about 30 seconds Bale does an incredible dive in the box that I can see from the other end of the ground and they get a penalty. I didnt really get mad about it afterwards, their play warranted a lead and they kept going down knowing fine well they would get one eventually. I blamed the Scotland players for being so negative and putting themselves in a position that made the ref make a decision.

It's the same at City when teams like Villa who we were given two incredibly soft penalties against camp in their own half. They are inviting the ref to give a penalty when given the chance. United have had shit loads of soft penalties over the years, simply because they spend more time in the oppositions half than most.
