The only player he has seen slow a game down to his pace, whenever he wanted he went up a gear. My old man was a rag through and through. Mario will never be as good as Cantona, who trained like a demon and set standards for the whole club to follow. He is still a cunt in my eyes, but I hate everything about the rag cunts. Soap in my mouth as I type.

After close to 12 years together, with me watching every City game on the telly, my missus still only know the name of two City players: Balotelli and Nasri. And the latter only because it sounds like her favourite dish (nasi goreng).
As Beefy says, like it or loath it, but he's up there with Imbrahimovich, Beckham and Ronaldo. He's more than a footballer, he's a media phenomena.

while this is true. Is he worth having around just for acting like an idiot, earning 100k a week? or even costing a position on the field that someone more useful or even costing a game.
How do we expect to win in europe if we a accommodate a personality, just for laughs and attention.

Many on this forum have expressed their desire to see him go, sooner rather than later. I agree but for different reasons.
To start with and going back to the derby, I don’t think that Mario performed so badly in the first half. We all saw that we dominated the match in the first 20 minutes and Mario was part of that ! We hardly can blame Balo for the 2 soft goals that we conceded which changed the match. However two things went against Mario in that match and for both I blame Mancini .
The first was that he should not have started instead of Tevez in this very important match with so much Media attention focused on it. This inevitably set him up for failure as many people (City fans, the Media and others) are predisposed to judge him very quickly.
The second was Mancini’s attitude. If he was not happy with Mario’s performance in the first half, he should have pulled him off at the interval. However by giving him less than 10 minutes and then pulling him out immediately after an attempted back pass didn't work, was for me an insult that no player can accept. This set the stage for all the haters (match commentators included) to see how Mario will react. Well, he didn't disappoint and he went straight down the tunnel. What else would you expect from Mario ?
Mario will not succeed in English football because it is very clear that all Refs have prejudged him and offer him little or no protection. Opposing players know this very well, so they foul him at every opportunity, knowing that in 90% of the cases they will get away with it. We've all seen the soft yellow cards he gets from Refs (the match against Liverpool last season comes to mind). No doubt he has deserved many of the yellow or red cards that he was given but no all. The attitude of the Refs and the opposing players results in him becoming agitated, lose concentration and consequently play badly. I think he is not mature enough (yet) to handle such pressure and what he perceives as injustice, although he has improved this season (no red cards yet!).
And that’s why I think he should go back to the Continent and make a fresh start which will not be easy as his reputation will precede him but maybe, just maybe, it will work out for him as it has not in England.

I have a worrying feeling that they might have to back down/lose again on this one to the PFA .... Not good if that happens imo

If that is the case and the PFA have got their facts right then it will be amazing if the club wins this one (I hope they do thou) as it will set a precedent. It was like when they tried to fine Tevez 4 weeks wages but had to back down to the legally allowed two weeks wages

Whilst what you say is true, I'd find what you say much more compelling if he played for another team! With regards to transcendence, Barcelona's football transcends the boundaries of what we have expected from a football team, and Balotelli wouldn't get anywhere near that club because their focus is on what happens on the pitch. Our focus should be the same....

Ah that's info I've not heard. Were the original fines issued by the club or were they some sort of automatic FA thing? (IE collected by the club on their own behalf or on behalf of the FA?)

Sky Sports News & Talksport are reporting that Balo & City have settled this & the tribunal will not go ahead.
If anyone cares, that is.
