Since Chinners overslept ;-)

The Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has seen the red card he received from Mike Dean for a tackle on Arsenal's Jack Wilshere overturned by the FA.

The decision means that City will not be without the defender for three games as had been previously expected.

A statement from the FA said: "An Independent Regulatory Commission has today upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal regarding Manchester City's Vincent Kompany. The defender was dismissed for serious foul play during his side's match against Arsenal on Sunday 13 January 2013. As a result, Kompany's three-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect."

The Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, said after the game at the Emirates that an appeal against his captain's dismissal was likely as he did not feel Kompany had fouled Wilshere.

"We will appeal because it is impossible that we can lose one player for three games for nothing. It is not a red card, it is nothing," he said. "He went into the tackle anticipating the opponent and took the ball before. I don't know how it is possible to get a red card like this. It was no foul, no red card."

In typical city fashion, cue an og, injury or red card in Saturday's match.

Could you imagine the turmoil on this site of our centre backs had been Nasty and Joleen?

And it went in."

Literally, I am stunned. Of course it was a great tackle, but I had no idea the FA could be fair about anything. I hope this is a sign of better things.

I cant believe it, the FA have made a fair decision regarding City.

I wonder if the media and player backing has forced this issue, they would have looked foolish if they hadnt overturned it? Though history teaches us that the FA are quite prepared to look foolish in order to give a certain club in the city next door an unfair advantage.

I reckon it must be because Mike Dean is furious. They can't drop him for incompetence as he's the best ref around. The linesman thing is ludicrous, of course.

That's great news. It's definitely the right decision but, as with everyone else here, I wasn't expecting it.

It's rare the FA go against a decision a ref has made, so there's a good chance Mike Dean has admitted he got it wrong. I generally consider him to be the best ref in the league so was surprised at his mistake on Sunday. But at least it didn't impact us negatively and he's rectified it.

Must say that I am very glad that Mike Dean has proved yet again to be an honest person.
Not sure if I possess enough knowledge of the English Disciplinary procedures, but I very much doubt the same output would have seen if Clllatemburg, Foy or Webb were officiating yesterday game.
Fair play, mr. Dean, everyone can fall under the massive pressure of those shouting deluded gooners!

I just read on some portal , but come here to be sure , great news.
You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

I was quietly confident after seeing those still shots. Especially with the overwhelming opinion of nearly every pundit that it was wrongful dismissal. Very very glad it turned out like this though. Classy response from Vinnie via twitter after the match too, complete polar opposite of that village idiot Rio.
So this is how it feels to be City,
This is what it means to stand tall,
This is how it feels when our club has no debt at all.

I don't think Dean had any role in the decision. An "independent" panel of 3 usually review the video evidence without asking the ref.
I must say I was confident that this would be the decision after many neutrals (pundits and others) backed Komp. The FA would have looked ridiculous if they had voted to keep the ban.
