Blatter should be removed

Postby Wonderwall » Mon Nov 30, 2009 8:59 am

How can the head of the international governing body come out with stuff like this and remain in charge? We all know he is barking mad, but he should be removed for the good of the sport IMO.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has revealed that he telephoned France captain Thierry Henry to offer him support over his controversial handball in the World Cup play-off win over Ireland.

"I called Thierry, because he tried to get in touch with me," Blatter told French newspaper L'Equipe.
"He was honest by admitting that he did use his hand, but it wasn't his responsibility to tell the referee.

"When I was a centre forward in my junior team, I definitely gained an advantage by pulling a defender's jersey in order to score a goal. And I didn't go and see the referee to tell him about it."
The Fifa president had previously refused to comment on the incident, prompting criticism from Football Association of Ireland (FAI) chief executive John Delaney.

Blatter added: "In the specific case of the Henry handball, the referee (Martin Hansson) should have taken the time to reflect rather than immediately awarding the goal."

Outrageous....I quite enjoyed what Eric Cantona had to say on the subject TBH (Keane and Duff also mildly amusing!)

"They're all probably clapping hands, Platini sitting up there on the phone to Sepp Blatter, probably texting each other, delighted with the result" - Robbie Keane.

"Do I think it's a conspiracy? Definitely. FIFA want the big teams in the World Cup, they want France in the World Cup, and it may sound silly but they want teams sponsored by adidas. Adidas sponsor the World Cup, they sponsor France. Michel Platini has a lot of influence as well. Maybe we'd have had a better chance of going to the World Cup if it was sponsored by Umbro" - Damien Duff. Sponsored by adidas.

"What shocked me most wasn't the handball...[it] was that at the end of the match, in front of the TV cameras, Henry went and sat down next to an Irish player to console him, even though he'd screwed them three minutes earlier. If I'd been Irish, he wouldn't have lasted three seconds...[Domenech is] the worst coach in French football since Louis XVI...If it was up to me, I'd put Laurent Blanc in charge" - Eric Cantona.

How would that work then?

There's no way they'll let us in but if they did, what group would we join without causing an imbalance?

Oh and fuck Blatter, he's a corrupt fucker and from this piece, he obviously started at a young age.

FIFA is obviously suffering from weak Blatter.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Perhaps the FAI have pics of him taking it up the arse from from Henry and blowing Platini off ...

Well that wouldn't suprise me mate!

FIFA say IF they do let Ireland into the world cup, then they'd have to let Costa Rica in too because of an off-side goal in their last game.

Like I say, I can't see it happening, but it certainly wouldn't do the competition any harm and it would also show some kind of sign that FIFA do care about the smaller nations.

He is only in charge because of the African vote. Its all bent and corrupt. Without the African vote he wouldnt be in charge, so he bribes then and backhands money to soccer schools etc.

Football cannot progress while that fat prick is incharge.

The game has moved on 7 levels in the last 20 years, we need TV technology rather than 6 refs on or around the pitch. We need wage caps and transfer fee caps etc ( but not until we have assembled a champions league winning side!)

Football is dying.

But FIFA don't care about the smaller nations. Until election time comes around, of course.

This is a strange one. Not sure about Costa Rica but Ireland would not have qualified directly had the decision been reversed. They would have had the lottery of a penalty shoot-out had things stayed the way they were, which of course can't be guaranteed. Does that make a difference? I think perhaps it does.

Fitting one extra team in might conceivably be possible though highly unlikely, but two? A play-off between the two for an extra place? And how can this decision, which FIFA say will be made in March, be made to work when the draw for the groups is this week?

Things really do need to change in how matches are officiated though and hopefully these two wrong decisions in crucial games will bring the necessary changes about. In a well-run, honest, fair organisation I would have confidence that a proper solution would be found to stop this happening again in the future. But this is FIFA and a fair sport is the last thing they want.

The sooner blatter leaves the better. But who is there to replace him that can undo the damage he has done? It is a massive task.

Sorry Ireland but shit happens, get over it. Every team in the world has been robbed at some point, if you reversed the teams, would you be laughing saying hahaha fuck off and get over it , or would you let your pride take over and demand a match you won it replayed, bear in mind the enormity or the actual fixture and what a win means.

We've already had this discussion, thanks for your sympathy, but this thread is actually about Blatter.

After listening to his interview, and with the likes of Durnham backing him, I was quite incensed at what he had to say. When he came out with the '33rd Team' comment in an effort to belittle not only the Ireland team, but Ireland as a whole, it made my blood boil. Other members (which of course were the 'A-Lite of World football) chuckling in the background made the delegation sound like a group of over-paid, over-hyped prunes!

Then to back Thierry publicly and basically state that 'their' Fair Play statement was just nothing more than PR made me wonder what the real state of football has actually sunk to!

For me, it is all boys together, and the rest of the misfits can go and 'Shovel it' (yes, I watched Demolition Man lately). This doesn't only go for International teams, it's also becoming a national epedemic that is ruining the sport; not just us!

I live about 6 miles from FIFA HQ. I can easily jog by on my way home ( usually run 25km home two times per week). Just let me know, I can nip in and chop his nuts off the tree..... should stop any little 'bratters' , as the chinese might say, from sprouting up !

Oof!

I just looked the cretin up on da intarweb, trying to discern whether he's ever actually played football, and found this: "In the early 1970s, Blatter was elected president of the World Society of Friends of Suspenders, an organisation who tried to stop women replacing suspender belts with pantyhose."

It's on Wikipedia, so it must be true.
