Rooney's not doing too bad.

That is slightly different, he was a 14 year old playing in a 20 year olds body.

While playing with a 60 year old body, allegedly

sorry to pollute the board, but the lad on the right went on to take mark Hughes' No 10 shirt and got some moderate success.

and this fella got his first club at 14 (and was considered a bit of a prospect):

or do you mean 14 year olds who are already at top clubs don't succeed?
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

How is that Fabian Delph doing at Villa? I was interested to see how much game time he got and whether he could cut it immediately but I'd forgotten all about him. Anyone know?

It's a funny one. I thought at the time that all those millions were a big outlay for "potential". These days, in the Premier League, if players aren't knocking on the door of the first team at the age of 19/20 they're on the verge of being shipped out, either on loan or permanently. To sign one for millions after a long pursuit and then not play him seems a strange thing to do.

On the topic of youngsters, I'd also be interested to know how that Italian kid Trotta is doing. Anyone remeber him? He was Hughes' first signing, a 15-year-old, 6'2" centre-forward. He'll be 16 or 17 now.

Forget that - Marcello Trotta at Fulham and "impressing". What's the betting he's the next big thing now?
