That is madness. Incidentally, what happens to any cash a club earns, but isn't includable for FFP? Is it essentially a massive Xmas Party kitty, or would it be spent a few years down the line, or on wages, etc. of non-CL squad players?

They could spend it on their academy and their stadium and/or distribute it to owners as profit, if applicable.

This is entirely what FFP is about, right here.

Makes me laugh when people complain about footballers salaries. They would really prefer for the chairman to pocket the whole lot each year?

Yes and is something we struggle to get our brains round as proper football fans! The fact that someone as intelligent as BiB has posed the question in the manner he has demonstrates that perfectly.

Very good point that.

Despite the topic being covered at length on many football forums, and people pointing out the obvious, the actual implications are still lost on people

The expectation that money is for spending, is why football clubs can meet be run as a business .

FFP will attempt to change people's mindset - although the two iterations of FFP are for very different outcomes.

The Uefa ffp is to allow the top clubs to keep their noses in the champions league trough, and that is absolutely blatant, but the premier league ffp - whilst for the top clubs the above is true, te real power in the premier league (eg the bulk of votes) is from club chairmen who are happy to trouser any profits ffp will allow them to make - at or the very least stop them having to fund losses.

Is something more familiar to American sports fans I would have thought, no coincidence that there are more American owners now who see the clubs as "franchises." They have dangled the carrot of clubs becoming profitable businesses in front of the noses of the likes of Kenwright and they have bitten.
