With Dzeko people see what they want I feel and people often judge him on the awkward look he gets when he's running with the ball. It's like he's trying to do a balance-act of some sort. But they forget the goals, which is very weird. I mean he scores a lot despite the fact that we don't play his strenghts. He'll leave this club this summer but he's contributed a lot during the time he was here. I don't think you should waste your time on arguing with the likes of maxxi cit.revenge. It won't lead to anything anyway.

You're right. He's the worst football player in the world.

I'll answer.

He's got great in-box positioning for crosses, goalmouth scrambles and rebounds, and a predatorial instinct for these situations pretty much unparallelled in Europe today. He can definitely jump for a header, but how many good heading chances has the team delivered into the box all season? I'd guess 15-20, only 3 or 4 of which have been when he was on the pitch.

On the ball, he isn't the fastest of players, admittedly, but, off the ball or in space (such as the breakaways in the 6-1 or numerous counter attacks) where he doesn't need to keep the ball at his feet, he's pretty nippy. Likewise, he cannot turn with the ball when closed down, which is a massive problem with our setup, as the majority of deliveries come through the middle, especially when Yaya is moved forward. I'm surprised (and a little disappointed) that he hasn't formed a stronger understanding with Milner, but I believe they haven't had a lot of game time together.

As for being easily shoved off the ball, I agree. However, I think this is largely an attitude thing, and I'm not sure whether it's been 'bred into' him, to try and win free kicks, or whether he just can't be bothered trying, as the team is not set up to suit him (he can be a bit of a prima donna, as can be seen from a few petulant outbursts, and also occasional tweets). This is the one part of his play that I have been unsatisfied with during his time at City, as well as his effort, at times, but I think the two are closely linked.

you make some valid points, but i completely disagree that "He's got great in-box positioning for crosses, goalmouth scrambles and rebounds, and a predatorial instinct for these situations pretty much unparallelled in Europe today." leaving aside his atrocious misses like the one last weekend, i can't begin to count the number of times i've cursed him for prancing about instead of busting a gut to get in the box and give zabba/milner/silva/tevez something to fucking aim at!! it's fucking infuriating!!! FFS darren bent is 20x the "predator" that dzeko is.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this, I think.

When Dzeko's confidence is low, he's a shadow of the player he was in the Bundesliga. I really thought him and Aguero would be a great partnership, with Aguero's shots often being hard and low from close range; the type a goalkeeper blocks more often than saves, and this would be where Dzeko cleaned up, netting us an extra 4-6 goals per season. It just doesn't seem to have happened though, and I think Dzeko became frustrated with Aguero's narrow vision and Aguero with Dzeko's regular bouts of incompetence. I really think he positions himself well in the box during initial forward play, but all of our players (fullbacks and Milner aside) enjoy spending time on the ball, during which he's become marked by 3 players.

You make a good point when you say someone to 'aim' . Which is what a striker is supposed to do. However, let's be honest, our crossing into the box has been dire all season. David Silva is shocking at taking corners. In fact Silva, inspite of his silky smooth running , really needs to step his game up. He's almost as predictable as the Barca lot.

What's the point is busting a gut when you know the cross ain't going to come. He was anticipating the ball on saturday and it was a bad miss for a first time shot. Moments later , Silva needed three touches before he blasted it into a player. First time and Silva, like Rip van A*rse might have got a goal , albeit deflected.

There's probably a variety of reasons why of late, Edin seems to have had his head in the clouds. Mancini hasn't helped his cause, with. his favouritism for Ballo though.

Having said all that watch Silva go and feed Edin tonight for an important goal !

I think this sums it up well and reflects may view quite nicely.

I was delighted when we signed the then most coveted CF of all Europe, I rated him very much and I also have nothing to argue with his professionalism, while his attitude may be reviewed under many different angles as well explained above.

Overall, though, we all have seen too many performances when Edin hardly could put a respectable first touch for the whole game. This alone and the fact that (like many other big strikers) he needs to be constantly used not to drop his form, actually makes him a kind of stuff not good enough for a Club aiming where City aims.

I still love Edin Dzeko, I still think that him and Aguero could have become a superb partnership, but history has told another story: perhaps here is a topic where Mancini could be argued to some extent, even if it's hard to know what actually has been done or not done in trainings and told inside the dressing room.

I was thinking the same Edin under another manager, using less passes to get into the box will flourish, his game is not our game, is that a fault cured by another system IMHO yes he has not become a bad player, just short of confidence. Gomez has a similar situation at Bayern as work rate has to be the 1st thing a forward has to have, Mancini had to lazy players in him and Balo. Sadly getting a willing runner upfront is not gonna be enough to overhaul the best in Europe, they all have that and better squads.

chuckle by chuckle I'd say for Cavani and Reus (I hope), Isco more possibly.

Other would say for a Pellegrinage... :-)

That is true and i know but its a bit crazy when u see what hes write like he don't watch the games .Yes hes clumsy hes form is shit now but any striker with this 2 and half years bench play sub bench play would have period of shit and good games and for record Edin 27 mil pay off just with that goal against QPR .But i will try not to read hes post any more :)

In defence of mancini (for dzeko having no confidence), like has been said above, he puts in 0 effort and has a shit attitude.

The worst part is I KNOWhe will go on to bag 20+ in Germany, as Mario will in Italy (although Mario is a different story, and the Italien league is crap).

I bet you he won't, he's pants

Here's the rub. If he did everything else well but didn't finish we'd only have a point from the game.

He's paid to score goals. He scored.

Telling us to Shhhhhhhhh? Unbelievable..

Absolute disgrace of a footballer. Please fuck off from our club. It's all about the name on back of his shirt. His work rate in that second half knocked me sick!!!! An overrated lamp post stealing a living and being propped up by fanboys that blame everyone but their darling.

Get rid of this fucking DONKEY and get Cavani in.
