What did he say & when did he say it ?

Isco, 21, spoke to AS regarding the transfer rumours and said: "Real Madrid excites me - this is one of the biggest clubs in the world."

If he said it today, then it's all over. If he said it 6 weeks ago, it's another pile of bullshit.

it sounds suspiciously like a paraphrased snippet of a quote from several days ago dressed up to look like he has been speaking to them.

Blatter ... for eight years and Mr Michel Platini ... for eight years from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) on a national and international level. OR when he was interested, travel to that U21 tournament and put that contract paper in front of him instead of fannying around? If that doesn't work then threaten the family.

From what was being said while he was away with the U21's is that he wasn't going to be dealing with any club related things and Spain would have been well within their rights to ban any contract talks during the tournament. If the U21's hadn't been playing I have no doubt he'd be a City play now.

Ha! In a nutshell!

There's a little bit more to it. Not only signing for a club whose president isn't keen, but also for a manager who won't guarantee him game time as he'll want to keep his job rather than look after a player he didn't sign. If Isco went to Franco's Fascists on the basis of Zidane's promises, he'd get everything he deserves.

I did read that Ancelotti wanted to sign him last season for PSG so I dont think that statement is entirely true. But I do see your point.

If this had been any other Spanish player there would have been no shame losing out to RM.
However with Pelligrini, (his father figure), as manager; and the player happy to come to City, its very disappointing that our negotiating wasnt able to secure the player. The buy out clause was reasonable for a player of his quality.
If there was one big name transfer that we should have secured this window it was Isco!

Some people are taking the Isco snub very personally. Its business. We have no divine right to sign who we want. Not once did I reminisce last season re RVP and what could have been...he didnt want to come to City so fuck him anf fuck anyone else who does not see what a great club it is. You cannot force players to sign.

Transfer news: Isco admits lure of Real Madrid amid claims he has rejected Man City

Last Updated: June 24, 2013 2:26pm

Isco: Malaga playmaker could be heading to Real Madrid

Isco has admitted that the prospect of a move to Real Madrid is 'exciting' as Spanish reports claim he has rejected Manchester City to seal a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Real and City have been leading the chase for the Spain international, who helped his country to European Under-21 Championship glory this summer.

Both teams have been locked in talks with Malaga, as Manuel Pellegrini looked to raid his old club for the brilliant young playmaker.

However, it now appears that Real Madrid, despite being without a coach, are set to win the race for his coveted signature.

Speaking to AS, Isco refused to confirm who he would be signing for but did say of Real: "Madrid excites me.

"They are one of the best teams in the world."

It is claimed that Madrid have agreed to a deal worth €30million (£25million), with the possibility of Denis Cheryshev joining Malaga.

As well as City, Isco is also reported to have shunned approaches from Monaco and Borussia Dortmund.
Betting suspended

Meanwhile, Sky Bet have suspended betting on Isco's next club after he was heavily backed to join Real.

The Malaga playmaker had been backed at as short as 1/2 to follow Pellegrini to the Etihad Stadium but the recent money has predominantly suggested he will sign for the Spanish giants.

The online bookmaker saw the Spaniard backed at as short as 1/8 to join Real Madrid before suspending betting.

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "It has been a see-saw market with City and Real exchanging favouritism, but things have become very one-sided over the last 24 hours with the money and media implying he will sign at the Bernabeu.

"It also raises the question as to where City will turn next in the transfer market with Edinson Cavani, who had also been backed to arrive at the Etihad Stadium, also seemingly favouring a move to the Spanish capital."

have to agree with this. i thought we were in the driver's seat here. yes, of course it's true that no one can make him sign if he doesn't want to come, but between pelle, silva, wages, the project etc. i think we could have offered enough to covince him.
