Tello is definitely not shit. He's very direct but a proper threat from that inside left channel. His finishing is great in particular. He does that Henry-curled-to-the-far-post thing really well. He's not world class by any stretch but i'd argue he's much better technically than Lennon etc - he plays for Barca so he can pass.

We won't go for him anyway in my opinion.

I haven't followed him much but I've heard many many positive things about him. He is a young CB much like Varane and Nasty. Even Barca are chasing him according to some newspapers.

Interesting. It says in the Italian link that Barcelona are interested, along with RM.

I would definitely hate it, if we sell Micah to get pepe.

Pepe is 30 years old for god sake, and Micah is pure city. Lescott should be sold off, in case we are getting a new defender.

Sell off Kolorov & Maicon for god sake. And a young leftback like Baines might be good.
Richard Wright should be released after that pathetic display in NY

Young left back like Baines? Even Kolarov is younger so maybe we should just give him a break

Whilst I'm not advocating signing Baines, we already know Kolarov is shite. Nothing in the years he's been here suggests he should be playing for a side looking to win titles. The sooner we can get rid, the better.

Baines is better than Clichy in my opinion. I think if he's Kolarov's replacement we will have done very well. Of course the scum are in for him as well as you'd expect and Martinez has turned them down already.

Why don't we buy baines for £15m and play him at LWM with clichy behind him they will be brilliant playing of and covering for each other when they go forward, plus baines has the set plays which will come in handy

I like us to keep Lescott AND sign Pepe & play all four cbs regularly rather than having favourites without good reason. All four of them would be flawed; Vinny loves an injury & a red card, Nastasic is a kid who doesn't do enough important defending, Lescott is coming to the end of it & has a back problem, Pepe is a fucking lunatic. But Pepe, Vinny & Lescott on their day are proper defenders. Better at the actual job of defending, than most. Those 3 plus a kid learning from them, would be a great backbone for the defence.

There would be one preferred option however, & that would be to unearth a genuine potential world clas defender, with pace & aerial strength. Don't care who goes if they can find a star from somewhere.

Not seen a decent defender in any of the U21 games though & only Piquet in one game (last night) has impressed me in the Confed Cup. Not seen a single cb that I would want to sign in either competition.

Seems to have a good rep but I've never really particularly watched him, I've usually been watching DeRossi when watching Roma.

The only cb who has made me take notice is Verane at Real Madrid & even he is still just a kid & makes some of the same mistakes Nastasic makes. He's better at everything than Nastasic though.

Not seen a single cb anywhere that has stood out. Even those geezers at Dortmund everyone raves about look fairly shite to me.

Now now, I think Hummels flatters to deceive, but Subotic I think is a fantastic defender. Wouldn't come cheap though.

Yeah and we seem to be a bunch of scroogey fuckers.

I'd rather find another nasty to learn from vinny. Then soon enough we have 2 top young cb's ready for 10 years of dominating strikers.

I can see why people rate him in the modern day but to me he's just another with huge flaws in his game.

I heard the BBC mob talking about a Martin Keown piece on defending, (which I missed) where he basically said everyone is becoming obsessed with defenders being something other than actual defenders & the art of proper defending is disappearing.

I've been saying the same for a long time so I'm glad to hear that someone who knows what they are talking about agrees with me, as most I speak to seem to think a cbs first job is to look good on the ball.

I think we have some of the best actual defenders at City but I know they have faults too & some, especially JL, could drop down a level at any time, but when I look at potential replacements, they make all the same errors & more besides.

I have to admit though, I've studied Piquet & found him to be a great big dozy ponce, but last night he was immense, doing some proper defending.

My brothers absolute hero is Francesco Totti and as such he watches almost every Roma game.

I asked him about Marquinhos and he said that he reckons that within 5 years he could be the best CB in the world but isn't worth the quoted money right now. He's good but no better than Nasty.

Many at Roma have compared Marquinhos to club hero, Aldair, If anyone remembers him, high praise indeed.
