It is/was. I'd post a pic except I'm at work and I don't want to. And anyways, you guys and gals know what an arse looks like.

But to get back on topic, I would expect that 80% of any transfer fee would be for his arse and 20% for the rest.

Does Negredo mean "little Negro" in Portuguese? My friend Luis just asked me to post that! Don't shoot the messenger.

So Chelsea want Rooney, have had their £20m bid rejected ... will probably get that up to 25-30 and get their man ...

Rags have bid £60m for Bale (all over talkshite this morning) so lets assume for a min that they too get him ...

Arsenal are not going to get anyone but who knows Suarez or Higuan, one of em might end up there ...

How will we look then? Would we wish we had gone and gotten that one big superstar (Cavani) instead of 4-5 of what we've got?

Surely Rooney at Chelsea and Bale at the scum will strengthen them and spur them on ...

Only hope is none of these go through but whoever of these three get their main target will be our direct competition in the league this season ...

I personally am not a big fan of 5 signings, all promising but none that makes a real statement ... we bought 5 last year, remember? And also thought they had improved the depth and areas that needed strengthening in our squad ...

i think our midfield looks strong silva, yaya, nasri and navas is the class. rodwell ,milner fernandinho and barry add the grit. upfront we have sergio, dzeko and hopefully the two new chaps and possibly guidetti
defenders are as you were from last season with micah back and our team was the best defence in the league so for me im well looking forward to the start of the season, and with the mechanic in charge looking to play proper football on the ground and with wingers, dzeko should be chomping at the bit to get going proper

Negredo was the 6th top scorer of all the major leagues combined last season with 25 league goals (34 in all comps)

No disrespect but I'm very happy with our business so far...and glad you're not in charge if you think that just getting Cavani was all we needed to solve the gaps in our squad's capabilities

Pleased with all the deadwood we've shipped out this summer. Maicon the latest to go after Santa Cruz, Bridge and Kolo. Throw in Tevez and wages wise we must have saved slashed about £700,000 a week off our outgoings.

So what you are saying is because we haven't overpaid for a big "worldy" name, we have failed. Ridiculous.

May I remind you we already have, Hart, Kompany, Silva, Yaya and Aguero, all whom i put in the "worldy" category.

Where as, our title rivals have, starting with Arsenal have Cazorla and Wilshire, Chelsea have Cech, Luiz, Mata and Hazard, Spurs have Bale and United have Vidic, Rooney and Van Persie.

They may need a big "worldy" name, but we don't.

Every single player we have bought this summer will play a very active role in shaping the coming season, which is more than I can say for a large chunk of the deadwood we have shifted this summer. All our signings so far are proven, top class players and just because some are lesser known, or have played for less glamorous teams, it doesn't mean they won't do the job we ask of them, they will.

It's all horses for courses mate and right now we need work horses, not show ponys.

We all could see we needed more creativity, pace and width but didn't address these problem. Sinclair was the only nod towards it. This summer it appears we have tackled that area. The proof will be in the pudding I suppose.

Bale wont be going to Utd so lets get that out of the way - the article today is a classic Daily Mirror puff piece by red-nosed arse licker Oliver Holt, designed to offset the negative publicity for their main readership, ie United fans.

Levy would cut his own nuts off that sell to another Prem team - Utd for £60m? Odd that, given Real have confirmed they will happily pay £80m and have been tipped off that they can have him next year. If/When Bale is available for sale, Real will be all over it like a rash and will pay far above what United could/would.

I might be wrong is he not got a policy of blanking the scum after they niched Berbartov at 11.59 last day of the window. Bale to us and bets would be off. Jose would be out of there Xmas and Gollum sat in Heaton Park with his S Brews.

shame al-fayed wasnt spurs chairman as that episode was bent and should have ended up in court. scum blatantly tapped berbatov without even having their bid accepted. they basically held him until spurs caved in.

nb.and yeh we can say City drove the price up but the principle is scum acted illegally and for some reason spurs swallowed it

I really despair at thew idea we have to keep 'making a statement' rather than building a football team.

And the signings last year would have improved the depth of the Squad, if Garcia had got upto speed in the Prem & Rodwell had been fit.

The glaring holes in this argument about making statements & blowing trillions on one player are:

1) If you sign Cavani, but you also need pace in midfield, a winger, another creative attacker, & some more cover in defence you end up with Cavani & at best one of the other positions filled. You lose out in 3 or 4 areas just to 'make a statement' in one.

2) What if Cavani doesn't take to the Premier League & plays like he did in most games for Uruguay ? So now you have still not filled 3 or 4 areas but also lack a striker as well & you have a huge, miserable, wage drain sat on the bench.

3) What if Cavani gets injured ? You are short in four or five positions.

4) How many more goals can you guarantee that Cavani will score compared to Negredo ? 10 ? 5 ? 0 ? What if it's 0 ? We lose out in 3 or 4 positions for a guy who scores the same number of goals.

I could list another God knows how many reasons.

There are two stars Messi & Ronaldo. Bale is being packaged as a 3rd & would revolutionise our team IF HE STAYED FIT & if Levy would sell him to us. Ibrahimovic & Rooney are proven but there are obvious, solid, reasons for us not signing either.

The rest, are much of a muchness. Isco is not a big upgrade on Jovetic (not currently as good imo) & Cavani is not a big upgrade on Negredo. It's pot luck; either player could succeed or fail in the Prem.

We have signed (hopefully) the best available players in just about every position we have aimed at. We will be seriously unlucky or very badly managed, if that doesn't show, in the attacking play at least, next season.

If we have a solid squad with few weaknesses, promising kids coming through & a realistic wage bill, then a year or two from now, when the World Star becomes available, we can bid the lot on one player because we are covered everywhere else.

We won't get him, but we can bid.
