Could be a bit Dave Sexton though.

I see the Rags got another live showing of their pre-season tour presser on Sky, does any other team get this treatment?

He mentions that they'll have to take stock of the CF deal and that he doesn't really need to strengthen as he still has the team that won the league by 15 points, although I'm sure it was only 11. Ah well.

The PR girl controlled the room again and moved questions on that made Moyes look a little uncomfortable. All-in-all, a decent presser from the Rags who once again spread the message that all is good and that they are in a very strong position.

Seems to be no questions from the media regarding Ronaldo, Bale or Thiago. Not even a mention of Fellaini or Baines, looks like they can't even afford his old chums from Everton.

Well, Sky doesn't have an ownership stake in any other club. And to be honest, I'm rather surprised that no manager or owner has publicly pointed out the conflict of interest when the media organization that promotes and drives the revenue for the league also owns one of the teams.

I thought Glazer bought Sky's shares when he bought the rags?

I think Sky tried buying United back in '98 for half a billion but the Monopolies Commission got involved and vetoed the takeover for obvious reasons. This showed Murdoch's hand and for me told the story of where Sky loyalties lied. They also tried to buy into us as well, upto 9% shares I think.

Later on Sky put money into MUTV and held shares until last year when United pulled one of the terms of the contract and got the percentage share back for free, and Sky just let it ride. Could that be classed as a backhander, it could be I suppose.

Whatever the arrangement, they walk hand-in-hand and I'm sure from past history that if United are having a bit of a tough time, there'll get their usual leg-up from all those involved in the game. They've got no choice, 700 billion viewers tune in just for the Rags and all concerned know which way their bread is buttered.

Interesting to see how much of a"leg-up" theyd get if things got really uncomfortable...im not for one minute suggesting they would allow the entire competition to be compromised to suit their own ends..oops i just did

That'd never happen mate. No way would they get oppo players sent off or penalties for a no-contact dive in the box, never ever ever. They do get the tough end of the stick though. When Shelvey vicously attacked Evans last season, Torres kicking out at a Rag or Danny Murphy throwing himself over in the box to get a penalty. The poor dears, they don't stand a chance with all that going on.

There is no value in the market.

Translation:we need to shift porky before we sign anyone but chelsea arent offering enough.

conclusion:they wont sign anyone, but are "stronger than ever"

Didn't he say he didn't know if they were going to bid again? WTF is that all about?

I agree with posters above that Gollum looks a bit lost. But still SKY treat him as if he's suddenly becoame a God:

"Breaking News: David Moyes coming up next." Whoopee

They billed it as 'An urgent announcement' yesterday morning for their live presser. The announcement must've been, as you say, 'No announcement'.

The Rags must be hanging off the edge of their seats, foaming at the mouth waiting for things to happen. The rest of us just look on shaking our heads.

Funnily enough, I can't see anything in the Rag Tops about the most recent snub. Amazingly, a couple even ran the story that CF had agreed to sign as of yesterday morning. They're moving back onto the 'Rooney is staying' story now, courtesy of that loveable old rogue, Booby C.

They don't need anybody though, their squad is strong enough already.

They look to be playing in the exact way they've done for many years whilst adopting a higher defensive line; pressing.

Ideal. We like teams with a high back line and slow defenders. Rio is as slow as a battleship and it's also ideal for those rugby-tackles of Rafael.

i was at this game, it's important to realize how bad their opponents were. Outside of he first 5 minutes, where they pressed united and looked better, they did nothing ... except for their one player, couldn't tell his number, who made cleverly look a fool on at least 5 occasions, when he came in for a tackle.

Zaha looks a very selfish player ( i know it's only a meaningless friendly), got himself into decent positions to set up easy goals, and always tried to blast it in. That probably comes from being the best player on a lower league side ... you don't trust the other players to pass it. Hope he keeps it up. He looked like a less lethal version of welbeck, which should say enough.

I left at halftime because it was just ridiculous to see however many 10s of thousands of people cheering for the scum. Gave my ticket to some hippy outside the stadium on the way out, worst way I could think to legally punish him.

Another pay day for the Glazer's and another chance for a few to buy up shares. I noticed they steadily rose andpeaked at over 19, now falling to around 16.5. They must surely announce a new commercial deal or possible 'World Class' signing soon, just to boost it a little.

I notice the Rag Tops are out in force today with once again talk of Ronaldo, Bale, Fabregas, Baines, and they're now turning their sights on a '£25 million bid for Modric'. Hell, they're even saying that Alcanatara maybe regretting turning down United even though we are now aware there wasn't even an approach!

However, this little snippet said it all for me. Moyes bringing to light the problem of big players in the market (value for money) and how they now need to rely on their 'History' to pull players in. Very telling.

“That is not something Manchester United are frightened of,” said Moyes.

“There has been a change in the dynamic because of PSG coming on the scene recently. That has altered things. But Manchester United will always compete.”

“One thing the club has got is the history. It has got the name. It has got the success. Players do want to be connected to that and one day say they have played for Manchester United. That is a big pull for any player.”

Second time in 2 years that they've said all they've got to do is 'compete'. Seems like the new mantra surrounding the Swamp.
