So, what happened last night?!? Apparantley the stadium was only half filled for one of their longest serving members (the best Premier League defender (ever) according to TS) and then they go and get beat on their own turf by a team who have had 2 of their star players taken from the side.

To make it worse, Sevilla had just played the day before in the Europa League.

Anyway, nice one CamelGob, the fans really showed you what they thought.

What I'm finding most interesting in all this is the 100% confidence that Moyes will become an amazing manager, and total inability to see what you just pointed out above.

If you ask any rag, they are incapable of admitting that bacon face had them punching way above their weight since ronaldo left, and therefore can see no logic in the view that they could actually tip off a cliff and into a struggle for 4th this season.

I suppose 25 years of not having false dawns and managerial failures kind of destroys their ability for critical analysis of the situation

Is it too early to start celebrating?

They could realistically be on 3 points from their first 3 games(is 1 too much to hope for?), and pressure will breed pressure in that black hole BaconChops left in his wake.

It's a possibility isn't it. I've noticed that the media, post-Taggart, are starting to put the pressure on a little also. Only last week I read how terrible they've handled their 'pretend' signings and there seems to be more and more negative articles being released. Now I'm reading about the backing Hodgson has given Rooney (anti-Moyes?) and although the media have taken it to the extreme it does show a change in policy now that BaconChops has gone.

Thinking about it, the Rooney issue must be playing hell with the writers mind. They've championed Rooney at every turn so now they are at loggerheads it is putting them in a position of 'Where do my loyalties lie; Rooney or United?'. I suppose most will go with the concensus to keep the hoards happy but there will be a few who will have differing views, especially with the internationals coming up.

Usually because they get a more impartial referee who isn't being reported on by the Old Piss-can.

I would like to say I don't give a crap about the internationals but I do. I am fucking outraged that this close to the start of the season and we have internationals when the players should be readying themselves for their clubs. FIFA has taken some liberties in the past, but this last couple of seasons with this shit, they are taking the fucking piss.

As much as I love the WC, if all international matches fucked off tomorrow, can't say I'd miss them. And what a joke of an England side we have now, reminds me of that scene from Mike Bassett when the reporter is trying to get Pele to mention England.

As for Shrek, who's this Rooney fella? Sounds like a grannyshagger to me. Anyways, Shrek. No matter what now he is headed for a shit season, Gollum worded it wrong when he said he'd need him if Princess got injured(I believe he didn't mean that he was backup, but he would need him to step up as the load would fall to him), and the media were quick to jump all over it and spin it in a negative light, so I think they have chosen sides already.

If mentioning his name gets you that wound up, I'll do it more ;-)

You're right though mate, some in the media seem to have already taken sides on this one and those that are true to the Rags are waiving on the Moyes issue. What is it, 1 win in 7 on their tour?

If, like you say, they don't get off the mark with a bang then the media look like they could quite easily turn. The question is, will RasherChops come out and back Gollum to pull it around if it doesn't go quite to plan? Afterall, he was the one laying on the pressure by saying that this is probably the best squad he had had and also threw Shrek to the wolves and forcing Gollum into a corner.

It's classic god complex, can you imagine if they have drifted off the pace at Christmas and he comes back in like the fucking messiah and wins them the title? We wouldn't hear the end of it EVER, I mean fucking EVER. Forgot about the Scousers wanking on about Shankly, this would drown those fuckers to a whimper for the next 100 years, the only respite I'd get is I'll eventually die.

I'm wondering if Taggart and Gill are just hanging around the board to ensure they get their slice of the stock market money?

Can't see Taggart riding back in though. If it did go Pete Tong then there's no guarantee that he could turn it around. His 'God like' status could be tarnished forever.

I wonder what Kenny Dalglish is up to nowadays.

Just a quick one. I thought Testimonials usually had 'Old Boys' playing in them. The Rags (who played a team who had just played an away leg in Montenegro and only arrived at Manchester in the early hours of the day of the game) didn't have one 'Old Boy' in the team.

Did Cuntona et al ask for too much money?

As I only got a little snippet of the game from TS last night (it was very dour as well, like the Sky had just fallen in) I thought I'd peruse the net and see how the game actually went. From what I can see on Sky the Rags were far the better team and unlucky to not win the game whereas the BBC seemed to not take an interest; no report at all. Strange.

Anybody [strike]laugh at[/strike] watch the game?

Utd really need signings imo.

A couple of exciting new top quality players would give them a boost going into the season, & possibly get Rooney interested again. I very much doubt it would make a difference regarding winning the title but it could at least get them going a bit.

Moyes has always been good at organising teams to be tight ( he did it at Preston ) but he has not yet shown any ability to build a side which plays with flair. If that was to happen, it would more likely be down to the players themselves adding that ingredient, not the manager imo.

But I now recon that is exactly what happened with us two seasons ago under Mancini, so it can be done if the right players come in.

There was no disguising the look of concern on the faces of Moyes, Ferdinand etc yesterday though; they are genuinely worried.

And the cheapest option should it all go pear shaped, will be to just replace Moyes with Ferguson.

Sevilla's legs went & the rags came into it, but they were truly fucking terrible, & I mean fucking terrible like we haven't seen.

Even when they brought on more experience, they were still fucking up in all areas, but Sevilla were running on fumes by then & had no threat. Then right at the death, when they thought they had Sevilla ready for the kill, Sevilla suddenly put a burst in, missed an open net, scored again & should have scored again,

It was embarrassing.

Good to see they were looking worried, they're a week from the start of the season and haven't showed anything yet. It can take time though, especially after losing somebody like Taggart, but just watch them bounce back against the mighty Wigan. Win that and everything is forgotten.

On the Rooney peice, does anybody think that Mourinho's just having them over? I look at Chelseas squad and think it's one of, if not thee best squads in the Prem. They've also got 4 strikers on the books with Schurle (?) coming in and their midfield is a match for any team. Just seems a bit of 'muchness' if they really want Rooney but if they don't and Mourinho is just being 'Special', then he's already put them on the back-foot as they'll probably be stuck with an unhappy player.

Would Taggart sell to one of their main rivals? I think not.
