Hull were magnificent at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season and then just crumbled. This is exactly why you don't want to go to the newly promoted's home arena in their first home match EVER in the premier league. It's just a bad combination. The team and the crowd was sparkling with energy and with that energy they made up all the difference in quality. That magic will fade. Most definitely. But it was predictable that it was going to be in full function today.

I blame David Moyes. Rigged fixtures.

Very true mate, one good thing is that it's the second game of the season - gives Pellers plenty of time to sort the shit defending and the window's still open.

Welcome to the Premier League Pellers.

Indeed.

I was afraid that the money was going to become as an obvious factor as it is in the SPL or Spanish league this year but luckily, the PL still works its magic. Nothing is for free in this league. I love it, although not today.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

It's been clear since the AC Milan game, that something is wrong defensively.

It's not just Garcia, although he makes it worse. Vinny & Zabba, players we rely on, were shit pre season, Joe Hart was shit, the defensive system is clearly shit & is too much for them to adapt to, this quickly.

Last season Mancini fucked the defence up pre season, now the Count has done the same.

Too much too soon.

You missed out that shitehouse Lescott who was ubber fuckign shite today.

Joleon is so shit it is unbelievable for a professional footballer....how long has he played this fucking game? Any pressure and he falls over or miskicks 9/10 times, the other 1/10 is the opponent fucking up.

Nine times out of ten eh ?

Very lucky to have had a career really.

Zabba had to moments to forget the same with Hart looks like a novice at times, we need to impose ourselves on every team, possession is fucking useless when you lose to a team with nothing more than effort and heart. Bad day and puts pressure on the manager from all angles.

That was disgraceful the way they let that guy in. We had 4 players around him and I was thinking WTF are they doing !
The worst performance from City I have seen since the Southampton loss. We might as well have played with 3 at the back and brought on Kolarov for Garcia. Clichy offers nothing going forward and on top it got skinned for the first goal.
Wondering why Dzeko was subbed when Aguero was doing absolutely nothing useful !!

Well you know I'm glad this has happened now so that we'll get a defender in. Otherwise Pellegrini might have though Garcia was some kind of centre back.. or footballer or something.

We lost the game in 3 places today.

1. Zaba was shit
2. Garcia on the pitch
3. Attack needs more ideas.

Bonus Reason: Yaya you fucking donkey.

My weekend had been going so well.......Miserable effort from our defence we had so few questions asked of us but when they were asked we had no answers.Zabaleta was very poor today and Joe is a major concern.I hope Garcia never plays in defence again.

They will beat pretenders like Tottenham & Arsenal, maybe, but even if they play twice as good as they did today they'll get dicked by the scum. Don't tell me you expect Cardiff to beat the scum? They can have all the sparkling energy in the world, if we didn't hand it to them they would have gotten out of there empty handed today.

Our defending for the goals was atrocious, mainly by Zabaleta who was at fault for all three of them. Shocking. Hart - shocking. Garcia - unsurprisingly shocking. Fernandinho, while not the worst out there, wasn't he the one whose responsibility it was to protect the back four? Failed in that regard alright.

Pelligrini has some work to do to sort out the defending set pieces and tackling, both were poor.

I have been making the point, well in advance of the season, that Fernandinho does not do that job & that him & Yaya could be in deep shit v decent teams. (as it happened, Cardiff found them out) He played in front of a Gareth Barry clone at Shakhtar & is more a player who runs about mithering & pinching the ball, then springs forward into attack, not a defensive mid.

Barry is miles better at that job.

I hate to say 'I told you so' well no I don't actually, I told everybody this whenever anyone has suggested him playing that role.

Barry USED to do that , now he is just shit, which is why he is on the transfer list.

One thing I noticed is that we never exploited Jesus. We played the ball down the left constantly in both halves

Fernandinho looked far more like Gelson Fernandes today. Headless chicken. Chasing the ball everywhere and getting nowhere near it.

In fairness to Cardiff they had him double marked and worse when he came inside a few times. Left side was more space.

Totally agree with Ted. Fernandino was anonymous(let Ya Ya have it said Cardiff, he'll take forever). But I have noticed that he can't tackle which is perplexing. Both Milner and Rodwell look more suited to holding to me.But ofcourse one is bound to be a bit worried ifwe are out thought by Malki Mc Kay. If Fern is meant to do the carrying job why not tell the rest of them to pass to him occasionally, they were queuing up to pass it six yards to Ya Ya who did a passable imitation of Nige. I really do think the most pressing task for the manager is to find a way of motivating Ya Ya in a roll that makes more use of his ability - he's been playing at 30% for ages.
