But if the Count rates him, then I'll have to assume there is something in his play which can improve us. I can't see what that is.

Having said that, the Count is not alone in rating Demichelis. He is either in, or on the shortlist for some people's La Liga 'team of the season' for last term, so it would appear that some rate him quite highly. 2nd highest player in the league for winning tackles.

The name that always comes up in La Liga teams of the season though is Inigo Martinez, from Sociedad. If he is as good as they say, now would have been the time to sign him; whilst Real & Barca can't.

Martinez is still very young he could be a really good shout but i don't think he has featured in the team of the season before this year, himself and Demichelis were the back pairing.

He's in most teams of the season I've seen for last season though, picked by people who watch Spanish football regularly. The Sky mob all went for him for example. He must have been really consistent.

Judging by the reaction to Rekik being included in the Dutch squad, I assume this makes Boyata the answer to all our problems for next season.

No mate, it's obviously a sign he is shite and should be sold.

point being tho, neither should be near our first squad, esp. as a knee jerk reaction to their spasmodic national team selections.

if Micah cannot get a game, those two cunts might as well fuck off to Scotland or Holland asap imho.

If we wanted to have clumsy centerback who turns marginally faster than Exxon Valdex then we should've never sold Kolo. Hell, why not bring Dunne back while we are at it.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

That's it, Cheshire Today! Personally I think the club would have been damned if they hadn't signed anyone as cover for injury-prone Vinnie. Seems an ideal mix to me as hopefully he can play a bit yet wont be too concerned when he gets left on the inevitable bench.

http://www.cheshire-today.co.uk/20456/

Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis has agreed to join Manchester City.

The 32-year-old will move to the Etihad for around £3.5m, solving a defensive crises which had been exacerbated by the injury suffered by City captain Vincent Kompany.

However, the move appears to raise question marks over the future of Javi Garcia.

The moves also marks a quick profit for Madrid who took the player on a free transfer from Malaga, where he played under the City manager, just two months ago.

Pellegrini has been forced back into the market after injuries to Kompany, Matija Nastasic and Micah Richards. The departure of Kolo Toure to Liverpool has also not helped

You know this deal is either going to be a stroke of genius or an utter disaster. This years Maicon if you will.

Either way we need an extra CB coming in because we just can't play Garcia at CB again.. If he Deme stops this happening he is already a success in my book.

Can he be worse than Garcia.... Yes, of course... Will he be... Doubtful, he'd have to tie his shoelaces together and pull his shirt over his head for that to be the case.

I'd take the retired David Sommeil over Garcia at CB. Seriously i would.

I remember him from a few years ago when he was quite decent but recent reports say he is a spent force. Hopefully we are signing the man and not a player.

It is very hard to buy a player of quality to be 4th choice centre half. Toure was ideal for that slot but on he was on huge wages although signing his like for like replacement for 3.5 million suggest we should have kept him on.

Looks like the end for Garcia. Last seasons transfer dealings are now looking like something from the Keegan / McKay era.

Before Vinny, was injured he was after him, He must see somthing, my view is it is his organiser at the back, which could be having a go at Vinny in a way.

I don't think any of our cbs are organisers & actually it's once again the much maligned Lescott, who tends to try hardest to do that job.

If this bloke is used to the way the Count wants to play & can help others get onboard, then it could turn out to be a masterstroke.

I must say that, having watched him several times for Malaga & also for Argentina (where he was diabolically shite), I'm tending to lean on the side of 'complete & utter disaster'.

But it can't be denied that he was rated as one of the best defendrrs in Spain last season, so he must have been doing something right.

Hopefully that's the player we will get.

Bugger that! Vinny is the only person in our defense who organises it! Look at the shambolic mess last weekend at Cardiff as an example of life without Vinny.

VK brings the best out of our defenders, no question. We are a far far poorer side without him, especially organizationally.... however if VK continues to be blighted by injury we have to bring in a more long term solution than Deme... perhaps we should be considering this now instead of signing Deme...

Given his injury issues in the past year and in his early career... maybe we should be looking to constantly rotate VK to help manage his injury's and prolong his career, a bit like what the rags do with Vidic and the Camel.

It's all quite the conundrum....

Not really - Pelle obviously saw we were in trouble when Vinnie was out and, from his experiences, saw DeMichelis as the best option for cover.

Let”s give it to the fella, since he came in the squad, we were better and better.

Not a fan, but like Paddy Vieira, we needed a player like this that knows how winning is done.
