Fernandihno's new to the team, the team sets up differently and you know what it's centre mid that's more exposed under the new approach, so hardly surprising that of the newbies this guy's finding it tougher than the others. Negredo has a strike partner, Navas has been given a licence to attack down the right - it's what they do. So cut him some slack I'm sure he'll come good.
Here managers get sacked after 5 games (Di Canio this season), others come under pressure in 6 games into the season (Padrew, Jol) ... hell Arse were calling for Wenger's head after game 1 ... so why can't we as fans judge a player after 12 games? I haven't asked for Fernandhino's head (just to clarify), am just questioning the premise that oh it's only been 12 games ... how many is enough? 12 games or 12 seasons? Hell for someone even 12 mins of game might be enough to form an opinion ... everyone's entitled to theirs, and that includes how long they take forming that. In your eyes they might be hasty, but similarly in their eyes you might be the one who can't make up his mind ...

Me for starters.
Great to have an opinion, but how many times do we get these things wrong?

Last two seasons kolarov was shit. He's had a good season so far but that doesn't mean our opinions were wrong.

But if anyone thinks Fernandinho is shit, they should take up watching a different sport.
The question is whether he is the best player we could have signed, to be doing the job he has been given. And my answer to that is a resounding NO.
But to come into the Premier League against experienced pros & do what he has done, is remarkable imo.
I just hope that he is eventually allowed the freedom to play his natural game & not permanently turned into a Barry/DeJong kind of player. He is a world class centre mid who has twice the ability of those two put together.

Yes, but as you have highlighted, he isn't a defensive midfielder.
Some times we have the need for a defensive midfielder and we don't have a great pool of resources in that area. Garcia is probably our only recognised DM and the less said on him the better.

Barry and De Jong never played the same role for us and Fernandinho certainly isn't playing the De Jong role now.
Pellegrini is attempting to play what I believe they call in modern parlance 'the double pivot'. The problem is Yaya's token defending which often leaves Fernandinho cleaning up, much the same way Barry did. Given time and perhaps Pogba ( or Rodwell if he ever gets fit ) this system will settle down and we'll see the best of Fernandinho in an attacking sense.

I agree with your assessment, but Yaya is too good to drop, & that is Fernandinho's problem.
We either drop a striker or attacking mid, or Fernandinho is stuck in a role as Gareth Barry.
Must add: watched a recording of the West Ham game with cans on & from time to time someone is yelling at Yaya to get involved defensively & tbf he makes some good interceptions, including a big effort right at the end, so perhaps it is on the agenda.

I heard that yelling too, seemed a bit odd that the man with the captain's armband was getting instructions about when to go and when to stay, it was effective though.
I agree that Yaya is too good to drop but if he's pushed further forward does he not encroach on Silva's space? Another thing with pushing him forward is that he is the best we have for receiving the ball from defence when we are building an attack. It's a right head fuck.
