Actually, funny you should mention Ajax of 70's. That fantastic Dutch team of the 70's (basically same as Ajax) never won the world cup and some people say that it was because they weren't willing to give up on their methodical style.
AC Milan of late 80's, to my recollection, wasn't particularily flair. They had great players in Gullit, van Basten, Rijkaard, Baresi but if my memory serves they weren't particularily attacking or anything. Just well trained and individually great.
Recent Barcelona side is without a doubt the example everyone is aiming for. I'm sure EVERYONE would agree with that.
