By this stage last season we only had the FA Cup left to play for. Everything else had been fucked up and we were boring the football world to death. This season we are still favourites for the title, in Europe (our coefficient should be repaired even if we get no further) it's exciting. All four pots are up for grabs. Add in the fact that the rest of football is watching us now, saying, "wow" and that most of us(if not all) have never seen football like this, it would be remarkable to still hanker after the former manager.
And the away record is pretty good and improving, wins ar West Ham, Newcastle, West Brom, Cska, Bayern and a point at Soton, not forgetting playing Chelsea off the park but getting nowt all point to better times on the road. The Sunderland thing in the middle of that lot was atypical.
Three away wins in Europe too. All this done, mainly without our talisman and leader on the park
At home feeling robbed if we only get three, and arseholing filth, Spurs and Arse is a truly remarkable effort.
What is not to like?
This is how football should look.
Very satisfied. Going to the game is a pleasure again.
His time last year we were second in the table with nine wins, six draws and one loss =33 points. One point and one position better than now. After that "poor" start we went into a run of six wins and a loss in following seven games leading to new year.
I'm fully enjoying the ride but once again you are reinventing history.
On the 15th last year, we had won ten:
Southampton H, QPR H, Fulham A, Sunderland H, WBA H, Swansea H, Spurs H, Villa H, Wigan A, Newcastle A.
We had been outplayed by Arsenal & even at times by Moyes' Everton during draws, on our own pitch, & lost to Utd.
We had been absolutely dumped out of the Champions League & the League Cup.
We beat Reading 1-0
Then at Christmas, we lost to Sunderland, effectively ending the contest for the league, as there were only two teams contesting it & the rags had already played Chelsea Liverpool City & Everton away from home, so were unlikely to lose more than us for the remainder of the season.
The run you mention involved a great win at Arsenal, the first decent side we had actually beaten since the start of the season, but the other wins were Norwich A, Stoke H, Fulham H, then we drew at QPR, drew home to Liverpool & lost at Southampton. So either side of that 4 game 'run' we actually slipped firther behind the rags, rather than getting closer.
There is much more competition this season. Last season was a stroll but only one team did the strolling, & even they were shit.
