To be fair, the way things stand at the moment and the kind of football we play under Pellegrini, I'd have thought Clichy would have been the more likely to make way. But don't we have a youth player called Angelini/o that's supposed to be making a name for himself at the moment (as a left-back)?

Ideally we would not buy Shaw now but other clubs are circling and he is too good potentially to pass up on. Left back, for me, is an area to sort out. Kolorov - besides the last couple of games - is defensively poor and Clichy is good but there are better.

He was deffo 16 at the start of this season.

I don't know if it sends a great message to him & others if we sign an 18 year old fullback for 30 mil though, seeing as we don't desperately need to spend that kind of money.

Signing an 18 year old for that much is effectively saying you think he's so good you couldn't pass it up & think he will have that position for years to come.

30 million is a bit steep. I think though that Luke Shaw could well turn into a left winger in the long term as he's very good going forward and very pacey.

He certainly is a very talented player and I hope we snap him up before the Rags do and turn him into a diver.
