I've been thinking this, but I doubt it'd happen before the summer.

The Daily Fail are running with a story that we are ready to make a £30m bid for him in this transfer window and eventually let Kolarov go back to Italy

To be fair, the way things stand at the moment and the kind of football we play under Pellegrini, I'd have thought Clichy would have been the more likely to make way. But don't we have a youth player called Angelini/o that's supposed to be making a name for himself at the moment (as a left-back)?

If there is any truth to Angelini or not, Kolorov and Clichy (HG) are good enough for 2-3 years atleast. Will be surprised if we go for Luke for 30 MM that too

Let me rephrase ...

Luke Shaw for £30m ... or Leighton Baines in the summer (surely £30m ought to secure him)?

Apparently we have said Lescott can go on January 20th. Can only assume a replacement is in the offing. Be sad to see him go but onwards and upwards as they say

Ideally we would not buy Shaw now but other clubs are circling and he is too good potentially to pass up on. Left back, for me, is an area to sort out. Kolorov - besides the last couple of games - is defensively poor and Clichy is good but there are better.

He was deffo 16 at the start of this season.

I don't know if it sends a great message to him & others if we sign an 18 year old fullback for 30 mil though, seeing as we don't desperately need to spend that kind of money.

Signing an 18 year old for that much is effectively saying you think he's so good you couldn't pass it up & think he will have that position for years to come.

30 million is a bit steep. I think though that Luke Shaw could well turn into a left winger in the long term as he's very good going forward and very pacey.

He certainly is a very talented player and I hope we snap him up before the Rags do and turn him into a diver.

I've heard Shaw tends to get injured often. Is this true?

Not that I am aware of but if he is he need not worry he will have Rodders and Jovetic to keep him company.

Hearing John Guidetti is heading to Stoke City on loan.

Just hope this move gives him some game time.It would be great to see him playing and being tested in the premier league.

Technically I'd call it "March of the Match of the Day." But maybe I'm the only one who likes you enough to care.

Luke Shaw is a good talent and he's young and English. Kolarov is shite, even though Manuel seems to rate him. If Shaw comes, and we break the record for an 18 yr old, surely he will be the starter and Clichy the "cup defender"
