Nothing to worry about here. Decent enough player but nothing to write home about. Smacks of panic by Moyes. Chelsea will be pudding themselves and so will I if it happens.

Have Bayern signed a new centre back or something ?

I don't understand why they would let Dante go. Ok, they have Badstuber but Van Buyten is 35, Boateng is even worse than Dante, Javi Martinez is dogshit at centre back. If Dante left, they would potentially have a problem there.

First he's linked with City, now Utd. But it just happens his agent is negotiating a new deal, but he has two years left on his current contract ?

All a bit fishy.

There were reports that Pep was interested in a new ball-playing CB, namely David Luiz, Thiago Silva or Pique. He's also been dabbling with the 3-4-3 system he tried to force on Barca in his later seasons, making Martinez one of the CBs. He's even played Contento, a dogshit LB, at CB in a back four.

Most likely though, Dante is out for a raise, not necessarily an extension. Bayern don't usually hand out longer contracts than one or two years to players over 30.

Cheesey said on blue Tuesday that we are closer to landing the cb that we're after and if we get him Lescott will be allowed to go.

Moyes will stick by his dinosaur methods,so there is nothing to really worry about, I agree. But signing a big player like him, can have a huge psychological impact. And if Moyes is sacked later on, Manure might get a better manager who might actually be able to utilize players like Mata.

Plus, shelling out £40M or whatever will also send a message out to other potentials that there's life in the old dog

Mata to scum wouldn't surprise me at all. Especially not if it is a loan deal for the rest of the season. Mourinho won't miss him - he hardly plays him anyway - and probably reckons that scum are too far behind Chelsea to be a threat. Strengthening the rags against Chelsea's main competitors make sense in a twisted sort of way.

Having 'lost' £260M off their share price, it may bankrupt them too. They over stretched to buy RVP and are now in trouble. If they don't qualify for the Champions League their revenue stream will suffer massively, seriously disrupting summer business. That is why the will panic and try to buy Mata. He's not a player they really want, but they can't get the ones they do.

Somebody please tell me that Mata is (League) Cup tied and can't play for Scum either tonight or against us in the final if they get there ... cuz that alone will take the shine off this (if the transfer goes through) ...

Wonder who the third party is? Don't they think Woodward & Smeagol will be taken seriously?

The same people they denied all knowledge of in August when they got turned down by all and sundry?

Re the possible Mata transfer:

Here's a video of ratboy and carrager talking about what the rags getting mata means. I think carrager is right - that if they buy Mata for 35+ mil, he has to play. And to play him, the rags have to either 1) change their system and go without true wingers or 2) sell shrek/rapist in the summer.

Either way, I'm not too worried if he did go there. The rags need a defensive and midfield overhaul. Adding an (overpriced imho) attacking center mid will use up a large part of their transfer budget on a non-key area.
