Just clever business by Chelsea to get rid of a guy they won't play, get a bout 10 million more than he is worth to a desperate club. Get a replacement they think more of for a third of the price and Mata is happy as he gets to play regularly and has a chance of helping make the scum into a decent side again which will probably happen if the 2 main men get fit.

The price is decent I guess, but I fail to see how not playing your best player of the previous season & then selling him in January to a possible long-term rival is clever.

Don't know about Salah, but he is rather young, unproven, comes from a weak league & almost signed for Liverpool. Can't see how the fuck he would be an upgrade on one the best players of the last two Premier League seasons, at least short-term.

Different players, both brilliant in their own way.
Silva is more of a playmaker and when he's at his best he can control and dictate a game like few others in world football can. It's almost like he can choose the tempo of a game by himself.

However Mata is more of a direct threat, he'll score plenty from both inside and outside the area, which Silva won't.
I think everyone knows though that Silva doesn't score as much as he should.

Mata was certainly better last season, Silva was the season before.

Real shame that the Rags are getting Mata because I do quite like him.

Doug the rags problems are not just up front their defence is dire to put it mildly and central midfield is an ageing joke.Getting shrek and van pussy fit will only paper over cracks in the short term.

Good business from a financial sense & for short term gain, by Chelsea. But Mourinho has handed the rags a lifeline with this.

Imo, there's absolutely no doubt that Chelsea are hoping to gain points from this; that Mata will turn a game v their rivals. They may be right, & they have broken no rules so fair enough. But they may have given the rags the keys to the Champions League.

Now, Utd have a possible front 3 of Mata, Rooney & RVP backed up by Januzai, Kagawa, & then the usual no marks. That's better than Arsenal's 3, better than Liverpool's & better than Chelsea's imo. Hazard, Suarez & Ozil are the only players from each attack that I would consider swapping.

We can talk about the defence, but ALL the defences are shit including ours. Rags' main problem is confidence & lack of belief in Moyes. If they suddenly develop the ability to batter teams, the defence won't need to be any good.

If Mata starts badly, then this season will continue to be a comedy. But all he needs to do, is win them a couple of games, & you'll find Rooney & RVP will suddenly reappear fully fit, & teams will start shitting themselves & handing them points again. All the usual shithouses will cave in. Wenger is already worried Arsenal will lose to them.

They may still fuck it up, but make no mistake, Mourinho has thrown a drowning man a fucking life jacket with this.

So they qualify for the Champions League, keep Rooney & RVP, put Mancini in charge, spend 100 mil & pick up a few out of contract players

Finish above Chelsea next season.

wtf is Wenger spouting?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Juan Mata's possible move from Chelsea to Manchester United lacks 'fairness'.

It is understood that the Spaniard will move to Old Trafford, with reports suggesting that the Blues have accepted a £40m offer from the Premier League champions.

However, Wenger believes it is unfair that Chelsea are selling Mata to United, particularly as the two clubs have played each other twice in the Premier League this season.

"I am surprised. Juan Mata is a great player and they sell a great player to a direct opponent," Wenger said.

"Chelsea have already played twice against Man United, they could have sold him last week.

"I think if you want to respect the fairness for everybody, this should not happen.

"I can understand completely what Chelsea are doing, and they do not make the rules, but maybe the rules should be a bit more adapted for fairness."

Arsenal, who are two points ahead of third-placed Chelsea, could face Mata when United travel to the Emirates on February 12.

I suspect that Mata was told Manchester were in for him and he enjoyed the idea of linking up with David, Alf and the saviour.

I also suspect the Glazers want that money for their own purposes.

30 mill for a bench warmer is way over the top.

I don't buy into this argument that Mata doesn't fit into Jose's system. Watching Chelsea this season , i would argue that they don't have a system. They are truly average. With pure luck they are three points better off ( joe 2pts , disputed last min pen 1 pt).

It's Friday and he still hasn't signed. Something stinks.

Spot on.

I rate Mata really highly but he by himself isn't going to turn them into the best team in the league, but its a big step to halting the current slide. And we need that to go on as long as possible.

I'd agree with that for the most part. Silva is a more important and valuable player imo, because he dictates the play as you say. He also creates more chances.

Wenger thinks he has been sold so that Man U will nick points off title rivals. IMO Cheslea are making a mistake and giving the rags a lift, why they would do that is beyond me. Surely it would benefit everyone if they didnt qualify for the Champions League? I think Mata will give them that lift and push them on to do so.

Mata is a very good player, although more than a hint of a panic buy, definately 10m too much but he will help to imporve them. Although as mentioned there are many other areas they are in need of fresh blood.

Mourinho is a rag licker & always has been.

He has been 'nice' about Moyes' problems all along & keeps in touch with Ferguson, so imo, he doesn't give a fuck if Utd come back & have a go at Chelsea next season, as he doesn't give a fuck about Chelsea, just himself. If they take points of us & Arsenal this season, he maybe gets his title. If Utd finish above them next season, who cares if he gets the league this season ? He's got his title, he can stay at Chelsea or get sacked next season, it doesn't matter what Utd do then. He could be in pole position to sign Rooney from them & give them more money to spend on a replacement; both are then happy.

By being nice to them, he also puts himself in the frame for a possible rags job if & when Moyes can't get them a title. He would never have wanted to takeover from Ferguson, but taking over from Moyes & being the saviour ? Dream come true for the twat.

For Chelsea as a club, it's a gamble, but for Mourinho it's no lose.
