Yaya Toure v Colin Bell

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Yaya Toure v Colin Bell

Postby pieboy » Fri Jan 24, 2014 6:51 pm

I've asked on facebook and twitter the following question "If you could swap Yaya Toure for a fit Colin Bell would you?".

I thought it would be a Colin Bell whitewash but many are choosing Yaya!
What do you think?

Bell would out score Yaya even this season and do a lot more defensively .

The two together would be scary though!

Colin Bell . Probably one of the few players from yesteryear that could live in the premier league IMO.

Colin for me too.Just shows how good he was to be considered ahead of Yaya who is basically awesome.

The way Yaya sits in the middle and controls the game with short passes, loads of one twos probing for gaps is not something you could associate Colin with as we didn't play the game like that but he would have done that as well if he had the right players around him.

Another difference is when Yaya goes on one of those special runs he needs a lie down and oxygen. The king would have been back in our box defending their breakaway. :)

I assume all those going for Bell regularly saw him play in person.

That's fair enough. I couldn't possibly because I've only seen footage.

Can we really comment if we never saw Colin Bell play week in, week out?

Maybe something more current for us 'not quite as old' bastards.

Paul Lake or Vincent Kompany?

Yaya's our most impressive player SINCE Colin Bell.

Wow what a question. I'm not really qualified to comment as I only saw the King after his injury though I have seen a lot of footage. Yaya for me is the most influential player in the Prem. He is more important than any other player we have IMO. He is also the best player I have seen whereas the King is probably the best player I did nt really see.

I´d choose Yaya.

Bell was obviously a phenomenal player in his day but the overall standard of play has improved a lot since those days.

The same must apply for those choosing Toure; if you have not seen both then it is a guess.
