To early a call as think it could go to the wire but found myself saying the same thing on sunday.

It will mean so much to us pushing on when we do win monday and much better if we go for another tennis score.

We've only just gone top of the league, despite a fantastic run. Yes, we've clawed back a gap, but there's still no daylight.

And it's not as if a 2 point lead over 2nd or 6 point lead over 3rd is insurmountable, especially since there's a lot of tough away days to come. And if we beat Barca, where will the priority be?

The question isn't valid, we should be asking "might we?" not "will we?"

The fact is that if we win on Monday we are more likely to win the league than if we don't, but until we have mathematically won or lost it then anything is possible.

I dont even want to think about the league. To coin the cliche, take it a game at a time. Not thinking about Barca, Wembley or other games. I think that is Pellers approach too. All eyes on Monday.

No. Equally, if we don't win we won't have lost the league. After Monday there are still 42 points to play for.

That said I think we will win, batter them actually, and we will go on and win Prem. We have just got the look of champions. A swagger almost. It was missing last season.

A win will also give us an edge over Chelsea and effectively a 7point gap (goal diff), which though not insurmountable, pyschologically, would be difficult to overcome.

Arsenal i think will fade so the title is likely to be between us and Chelsea and a win on Monday just gives us an aura of invincibility. A long way to go yet though

Good bit of deduction there, Sherlock.

We just have to continue scoring goals while keeping it tight at the back. If we can consistently outscore our opponents I recon we have a good shot at winning trophies.

This match has its own place on Rag Cafe. There asking amongst themselves how should the Chavs line up again us. Quite sad really. Mind, a lot of the rags think we will muller the chavs more that we did them.

Not really that sad considering we have individual threads for other big games (including the rags) on here all the time. Standard behavior for fans to talk about football on their team's forum.

Then again, we don't have threads for mid-table clashes like Newcastle vs Southampton because it doesn't really affect City. So there's no reason for them to start threads about teams in the top 4 playing each other; it just doesn't affect them. cunts

We did have a scum vs chavs thread ...

Keeping my powder for a while, although three points vs maureen will peg them back its not just then we need to consider.

Wait until we're 10 points ahead then i will order the bouncy castle

If we beat Chelsea, they have to match all our results plus take 7 points more, in 14 games; a point every two games.

That's not very likely.

Arsenal would become the main problem.

Ok realistically speaking we will win the league on our current form. However history tells us that teams have "blips" especially with a fixture overload and the psychological pressure/fatigue that will begin to tell as the season continues. No game is a definite 3 pointer. Look at Chelsea and West Ham last night. Look at the Rags with 8 points clear two seasons ago. One Game At A Time.

They have ridiculous fixtures between now and the end of March though.

Liverpool, the scum, Liverpool again, Chelsea and us. I don't think they will get more than 9 points from those 5. Liverpool in the FA cup and bayern in the CL to boot. By April I think they will be third which is a shame for them. Chelsea don't deserve to finish second.

No. Win on Monday, put some daylight between us and Chelsea. Still got Arsenal breathing down our necks and plenty of banana skins to come.

Yeah but ALL the teams have banana skins to come.

If we get 6 points on either Arse or Chelsea, then even if we slip up a couple of times, it means they can't slip up at all, which isn't going to be the case with either & they will have to play each other.

Any team which gets 6 points behind us now requires us to fuck it up or them to become completely invincible. Normal resuts won't cover it.

Chelsea can't afford to lose this game. A draw is ok for them but not a defeat.

If Mata starts to play well for Rags and Chelsea start to struggle I'll actually kind it quite funny watching Mourinho realize he's fucked up.
The cheek of him to accuse West Ham of playing 19th century football. He's known for parking the bus in big games.
I really hope we batter Chelsea more than anyone else, they're worse then the rags imo with their cunt of a manager, diving, playacting and John Terry.

5-0 please.

Seriously, how is he an expert on 19th century football? Did he study the lithographs of games between Woolwich and Royal Engineers?
