Racing Santander Refuse to Play

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Jan 31, 2014 12:31 pm

Anyone know the history of the reason behind the protest of the Racing Santander players? I know its about money and wages but I just wondered how the hell a football club could get into this state?

They took to the field but refused to challenge for the ball

Good on them, shame for the fans, but I expect they understand

I heard they're demanding that the president and board stand down.

From what I've heard the fans where in full support of the players. Something which is nice to see in these situations.

I saw the moment on tv last night. Before the game, there was a rumour they will not play until the president will quit his job.

The game started, the game went for about a minute with all the support of the home crowd and then it stopped after the ref talked with the captain of Santander. The crowd offered them a standing ovation and were behind the squad 100 %. Then they did a stadium tour like they”ve won the world cup and everybody went home.

Was a nice picture.

However, the spanish Barcelona and Real biased FA didn”t like that very much and Santander are facing a 10 point deduction + 2 year ban from the Coppa del Rey.

Two successive relegations and the club in administration. Wasn't all that long ago we played them in UEFA cup.

Feel bad for the away fans.

And the other team still didn't get out of their own half. Pearce isn't their manager by any chance ?

I was just about to post the same - against a team who refused to play and still couldn't manage a shot on target
