At the end of the day, all this last minute talk of us signing two more players could be no more than a media inspired 'conspiracy', calculated to try and make us look stupid, or 'snubbed', when nothing materialises.

The Mail reports that Manchester City have turned down a bid from Liverpool to take Micah Richards on loan to Anfield.

Doubt he'd work out at liverpool, given he was born nearer to Manchester.

A flight arriving from Porto is expected to land shortly MEN Sport understands, though it is unclear whether both players are set to sign for the Blues.

The double swoop for mangala and fernando from porto reminds me of the double swoop from hsv. Kompany and de jong:) that worked out gr8 imo. De jong's contract was expiring in the summer too...juz like fernando. Hope they would be as good...if we sign them:p

We sign these two and it's just about as complete a squad as the league has ever seen.

Lescott has to be moved on, just no other way around that but Kompany, Demi, Nasti and Mangala is an excellent selection of centrehalves.

I am not sure where our weakness would be, maybe a winger but we don't play traditional wingers anyway.

think slim was referring to the double swoop of kompany and de jong, which happened in two separate windows

Actually I was referring to him posting it was a double swoop, it wasn't. Kompany signed before the take over, de Jong signed six months later. de Jong's contract was expiring in 6 months, in an article they kept trotting out that was 18 months old, he'd signed an extension, but facts didn't entire into the vilification of City at the time.
