That may have persuaded him to offer so much for a CB. If Mangala is worth that much then he must be fantastic and a cert to play for France. If he is not a cert for France then is he that good? Just makes me wonder but I have nt seen him play.

fernandinho? but in general I agree with your point. outside of maybe vinny and thiago silva (although he's getting old), I wouldn't pay 40M for ANY current central defender, let alone a 22 y.o. from a shit league .

In no way, shape or form do I believe that English football Clubs are corrupt and that questionable dealings are concocted behind closed doors.

However, if I were of that viewpoint and believed in such conspiracies, I might be a little concerned of the 'coincidences' involving the Scum and Cardiff, for instance :-

Premier Division relegation strugglers Cardiff appoint Ole Gunnar Soltsjaer (former player of mid-table team Manchester Utd) as manager.

Cardiff, desperate for points, then have to play away at mid-table team Manchester Utd, also struggling but for different reasons and, in the game, they just lie down and die, allowing the mid-table strugglers to win 2-0.

Final day of the transfer window and mid-table Manchester Utd send out striker Wilfred Zaha to relegation strugglers Cardiff, on loan.

Altogether, an unfortunate set of coincidences.

how is that different than Chelsea loaning an entire squad's-worth of players to Vitesse Arnhem?

Other than them being in a different league and not being able to get points off of them for a "favor" like loaning them players, nothing.

the Chelsea-Vitesse Arnhem collusion is more of a problem than the imaginary "Cardiff lost to United on purpose" conspiracy theory

Agreed. Not often I agree with you, is it, mate?

I'd be interested to hear why our goose-stepping chum thinks it's such a big issue though, especially as we have been doing similar with the young Ghanaians.

I don't know mate, I think you do agree with me more lately.

It's probably because you're getting soft in your latter years :)

If I was a Gooner I would be pissed at the board for relying on matchday income as the largest part of the club's revenue - absolutely criminal given their club's status.

Mourinho the tactical genius sold mata to United in hope that Utd will get points off City and others.
