Did you by any chance play ping-pong while you were in the army?

May come as a surprise to you but many people don't view soldiers as automatic heros. It's just a job.

It's commendable that you sacrifice yourself to a higher authority without question, but that's no different than many other professions such as being a monk or having a corporate job in countries like Japan. Some would say that you can only find true freedom and nobility by being subservient to something greater than yourself, regardless of the correctness of that higher authority. While others say that your decision to volunteer for the military makes you accountable for the moral actions of the group that you've chosen to join.

I'm somewhere in between. I don't think it's fair to judge individuals too harshly based on decisions from leaders of their organization, but I also feel that the hero worship of soldiers is a sickness in America and makes it easier the justify future wars.

So throwing around your credentials as a soldier as a way to demand respect is just as pitiful as threatening violence on someone that you disagree with.

Spoken like a true coward. I pity people like you. The yanks have it right. I wonder if you are one of those cock heads who don't wear a poppy in the run up to rememberance day. I've been on the radio and in a few different papers and been thanked by various celebs as have many of my brothers in arms. City have also recognised my contribution and given me free tickets in the past. I am part of an elite group of people who have sacrificed to keep this nation free. I don't give a fuck what you think.

Sounds like you watch too much bill orielly or sean hannaty. Defended our freedom my ass. What does a fucking poppy pin on your coat have to do with anything. Too caught up in empty symbolism that has nothing to do with reality.

Congrats for getting in the media and meeting celebrities but flaunting that kind of self promotion speaks more about your ego than any kind of "sacrifice".

I like the WW1 vets better who just shut the fuck up about the war and went on about their life. Maybe you should do the same.

Having been in the army myself (as have many on here) this sort of shit from the likes of you fucking embarrasses those who did their service and reflect on their service with dignity rather than going round shouting what a fucking hero you are for doing the same thing as generations and generations of young men since time began.

So let's have it right, none of us - and i mean NONE of us who joined the army did so specifically so we could sacrifice our lives for our country, we did it as a career choice, or in some cases because there was no career choice available.

If being honoured by a fucking celebrity is the confirmation of your 'heroism' for making a career choice, you are nothing but a shallow minded glory hunting cunt.

You are a fucking disgrace to your mates and your unit the way you bang on about it on a football forum, grow the fuck up and get the chip off you shoulder
