Manchester City forward Samir Nasri has returned to full training and could be available for the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona next week.
The France international has made good progress in his recovery from a knee injury suffered on January 12 that initially looked set to keep him out for up to eight weeks and he featured in a training session on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Sunderland.
That game is likely to come too soon for the 26-year-old, but he could feature in Saturday's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Chelsea ahead of the high-profile encounter with Barcelona.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini said: "Nasri and Javi Garcia started training today with the squad, we will see in the rest of the week if they can be fit for Saturday."
When asked specifically about whether Nasri could play against Barcelona, Pellegrini added: "We will see in the next few days, up until Saturday. I think there is a chance."
Nasri is also hopeful of an imminent return, tweeting: "Happy to be back with the team, first full session can't wait to be back in the squad thank you for your support."
Fuck yeah!
Who would have thought 12 months ago we'd give a shit that Nasri was back in training?
