Can't really begrudge his decision to go there. Plus, how much would he have played for us anyway? Who out of Nasri and Silva does he replace?

We probably should never have signed Clichy then. He wasn't too flattering about us before he joined.
Exactly. Look at him now. Half-arsed half of the time. Could it be because of his motives for joining? As I said, you gotta have a real passion for the club, or else the cracks will eventually show.
July 25th 2009: “I really believe if you are a player who thinks only about money then you could end up at Manchester City,” said Clichy. “You have to think if you want to play for a big club and have your image or if you want to play for a good club and earn big money. When you ask someone to move for something like £300,000 a week it is just crazy.”
July 4th 2011: “I’m really happy to be joining such a great club,” said Clichy. “I hope I can add to the quality we already have here because we have a fantastic squad who I believe will continue to get better. I can’t wait to get started and I think anything is possible with this team.”

Both Nasri and Silva have suffered from injuries. Isco could easily have filled the gap.

Would he have wanted to have been a gap filler? And Navas aswell gives us vital width so he would have been competing with him aswell.
The point I'm making is we can't begrudge a Spanish player for choosing Real Madrid over us.

I was being sarcastic but clearly you're not. You didn't need to post his quotes - I was clearly well aware of what Clichy had said otherwise I wouldn't have written what I did.
Clichy has been largely excellent for us, although admittedly he has had too many indifferent performances this season.
You are deluded if you believe that all the players who have joined us in recent years did so because of a burning passion to play for us. They may have a developed a passion for the club during their time with us, but until 4/5 years ago none of Europe's top players were clamouring to play for us. A chance to join an exciting project, coupled with a significant pay packet, is what convinced them, but that's not passion.
I believe that is changing slowly as we establish ourselves amongst the elite but but don't delude yourself that it's been that way in the past.

Luckily we dont have this dilemma as he is not what we require now.
Would people turn down Alexis Sanches cos he turned us down a couple of years ago? i wouldnt.

The thing is, I have a feeling that we have a policy when negotiating with players - we will go in for you once and once only. Turn us down and we will never go back.
And yes, I do blame him for making the wrong decision, or at least for going back on his word to my club.
Fuck him, let him regret not moving to us, just like Kaka does... and probably all the others who "shunned" us.

[/Messi will be the exception to this I assume.

My goodness, when did we make a genuine bid for Messi ??

Manchester City are lining up a deal with bring Spanish star Isco to the Ethiad Stadium in the summer in a move worth £30m, according to reports.
Daily Star Sunday claims that the 21-year-old Real Madrid attacker is unsettled at the Bernabeu after finding himself on the fringes of Los Blancos under Carlo Ancelotti and is said to be seriously considering a move to City in the next transfer window.
The Blues are thought to be competing with Italian giants AC Milan for the Spanish international's signature, but are unwilling to offer reported Real target Sergio Aguero as part of any deal, having said the Argentine forward is not for sale.
City were linked with Isco last summer and were believed to be close to completing a deal before Real Madrid hijacked the move and lured the youngster to the Spanish capital.
Isco played under Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga.
