Yes.

Well, no, but they were getting grief on the radio from people complaining that nurses don't get paid that, so I'm happy with that.

Never understand why people don't realise that nurses could just become professional footballers if they wanted to earn the same money. What's that, that haven't got the same talent as a small minority of the world's top players? Maybe that's why they don't earn the same then, you dumbasses.

Don't suppose it would be much fun getting an enema off Shrek for that matter.

I wonder if it will be made official during our pre-match build-up?

So for a player they paid £30m for, now is gettimg.paid £300k a week for 5 years? This must be false because of course Utd "dont buy success."

Remember we arent their rivals either - very true, Southampton are their rivals for 7th spot.

They didn't buy him, he came through their academy.

And they don't pay him. He plays for free, due to his love of them. And because they love him back, they give him something to cover his expenses. Completely different scenario to the mercenaries who play for us

So when he's 33, he will still be earning £300k per WEEK. £300,000 x 52= £15,600,000 in his last year. Utd have committed themselves to paying that figure FIVE YEARS FROM NOW. For a player who has questionable 'refuelling habits' & not the best injury record, is a forward, & will be 29 years old in Oct, (two months after the start of the next season).

And it's City, who are ruining the 'structure' of football, with our 'inflated' prices.

Would be interesting to see just how much that one player has cost over the course of his career for United.

I'd bet that inflation adjusted, it's not too far off a quarter of the value of the whole club!

Well said. They appear to be spending their way out of the shit they're in and it's a very risky gamble to take. It only means they fall much faster and harder if things don't go their way.

They have to spend their way out. It's the only option for them right now. No actual youth system or plan. It isn't even ironic based on the cultural accolades they get for their youth, babes, etc but it's almost criminally cynical. It is as if someone did this to them -- they seem so ignorant to the facts and the process. Desperate stuff.

Moyes and the money men will fuck up their buys too I believe. This should be a fun couple years.

You're right of course, they have to spend big to compete. But if they were sensible, they'd relax and accept they're not going to compete for anything for a few seasons, take stock of what they've got and identify some excellent young talent and begin to build again. Unfortunately for them, their fans, half of whom who have never experienced the type of failure they're about to witness, will be foaming at the mouth for heads to roll. They'll miss Champions League, stop selling their stadium out their troubles will snowball from there. Moyes out!! only to hand the poisoned chalice to the next poor bastard and the managerial office will be fitted with a revolving door to make it easier for all the comings and goings. We've seen it happen all too often. One wrong slip up and they're properly fucked.

In the meantime, we continue our ascendancy. Our academy will open soon and judging from the article in the other thread, we'll be churning out a 'class of 92' every other season. Let the good times roll.....

This could be an indication of how much influence Bacon still has. The fact he's not not signed might be down to Bacon sticking his snout in. If he doesn't sign we know Bacon still pulls all the strings and if he does sign the club are doing a 'fuck you' to Bacon.

Great scenario whichever way it pans out

I don't think it's that big a job to turn Utd round to be competitive at the top end, at all.

They have fixed it so that we can't completely wipe them out quickly, due to ffp slowing us down. So now, with all the new sponsorship deals etc, all they have to do is spend for a couple of seasons, then get back to the penny pinching afterwards. They can do that & still pay off the debt, just have more of it.

Spend for two years & pick up a few bargains to fill out the squad (Lescott/Barry for a start, cost= zero). Add that to Rooney, RVP, Mata, Jizzjam; they wouldn't neccessarily be in the top 2, but they would certainly be fighting for it.

They could do the job & still have 50 mil to spend on a star striker. But who will Moyes sign & who wants to play for him & can he get them to play properly even if they do sign ?

There lies the question.

Indeed. The knock-on effect of finishing outside the top 4 will only become apparent in a season or two. Players will want more wages to play for them (we know all about that) so they'll have to shell out top dollar. If the tourists choose not to renew their season tickets in their droves, they could find FFP hindering their rise from the ashes... which would be poetic justice wrapped in a bit of karma, IMO.

Great news. £80m over 5 years. He'll be finished as a top 4 player within 3 years imo. Most players have 13/14 years at top level, he's already had 12. How long before RVP publically says he wants the same or he fucks off? Or Mata. How much will they have to shell out in the summer? FFP? Hahaha

Thing is, they can't she'll out in the summer. The premier league FFP rules kick in at the end of this season (I think) which limits clubs from increasing their wage bill by x amount. I think in their case, they are already in the higher bracket, and I think they can increase their wages by £4m per year. This can only be exceeded if the club improves their matchday revenue. Considering they'll be in Europa this will be unlikely, and therefore limits how much restructuring they can do.

Best part is, they voted for these rules!

this is interesting - didn't know that was the case.

meanwhile we're signing players on reduced wages compared to what they used to make when they signed for city. navas for example is on about half of what barry/lescott make.
